Now taking nominees for the 8th Annual Late H. Lee Atwater Award for Right Wing Evil

In about a week, at Midnight on Halloween, the desiccated corpse of the Late H. Lee Atwater will rise from his clammy grave in South Cakalacka and present the award to the person or persons who have most exemplified the very personage of right wing evil for 2014.

You, my ghosties and goblins, have a key role to play in this, as it will be you who will decide who will be the recipient or recipients of the hallowed title of Most Evil Right Winger.

For the last two years in a row the winners have been that despicable two-headed monster of unmitigated evil, known as The Koch Brothers: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023953376

This year, the winner could be anyone, but it's up to you to decide who that will be. Voting will happen on Devil's Night, Halloween Eve.

So give me your nominees, creepers and creepettes, and at the stroke of Midnight on Halloween, we will come together to summon the late Godfather of Right Wing Evil himself, The Late H. Lee Atwater, to bring the winner into his clammy embrace.

HALLOWEEN IS COMING!

Did you notice on the tee vee and radio ads how low Rick's voice sounds?

Then, when he's on live tee vee, he's back to his normal Munchkin for the Have-Mores.

Her state took over two hours to execute a prisoner--

On Wednesday, July 23, the State of Arizona executed Joseph Rudolph Wood in the fourth visibly bungled execution this year. The execution began at 1:52 p.m. According to eyewitness Michael Kiefer, "Wood was unconscious by 1:57 p.m. At about 2:05, he started gasping." He continued to gasp for over 90 minutes.

Kiefer counted more than 640 gasps.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/26/opinion/mccracken-moreno-botched-executions/

As the article states: The fourth visibly bungled execution this year. It's one thing to support the death penalty, it's quite another to take two hours to kill someone, particularly when the country's already had three botched executions. You'd think the governor would have learned from those mistakes. Either she didn't learn or she simply didn't take her killing seriously.

At best, it's gross incompetence; at worse, it's sadistic.

This GOP Ad Is Already Being Dubbed the New ‘Willie Horton’

by Andrew Kirell | 12:54 pm, October 17th, 2014

In the midst of a tight U.S. House race in Nebraska, the Republicans released a new ad Friday targeting the Democratic challenger for his support of a law that allowed a convicted felon to serve only half of his prison sentence.

Nebraska convict Nikko Jenkins was released early in 2013 as a result of “Good Time” laws allowing for good behavior reductions in sentencing. He had been serving time for an armed robbery and assault conviction. Several months after his early release, he was caught and convicted on four counts of first-degree murder.

Because State Sen. Brad Ashford — the Democratic challenger to incumbent Republican Lee Terry — supported that “Good Time” law, the GOP released the ad prominently featuring Jenkins.

“Brad Ashford supported the ‘good time’ law and still defends it, allowing criminals like Nikko Jenkins to be released early,” the 30-second TV spot stated, while tying Ashford to a menacing-looking Jenkins by putting their images side-by-side.
