Nurse's Aide Theresa Romero was released today, and told about Excalibur's execution

"1:30 a.m. ET: What a sad homecoming. Teresa Romero, the nursing assistant who beat Ebola earlier this week in Spain, was just told by her husband that health officials euthanized her dog Excalibur out of a possible risk that he might spread or contract the virus from his owner.

Romero is demanding answers of Spanish authorities. Her husband told El Pais that ‘‘she is asking herself why they killed the dog, who wasn’t to blame for anything.’’

And as many eff ups as we had here in the US, I thank freakin' dog we don't have their despicable, cowardly health minister. He accused her of lying about not having broken protocol, because they then questioned her while she was deathly ill, which is when she said she may have accidentally touched her face. And then he publically insulted her, implying she is a "slow learner" when they got 15 minutes of training for a process that actually takes 45 minutes. In other words, no practice whatsoever.

"The couple’s dog, Excalibur, was put down on October 8 despite Limón’s internet campaign to save it and protests by animal rights supporters outside their apartment building.

That same day, Madrid regional health chief Javier Rodríguez made public statements that Romero’s family found particularly hurtful. He accused her of lying after she failed to inform her primary care physician about her recent exposure to Ebola when she was already running a fever, and he also played down the lack of proper training and equipment for those coming into contact with the virus denounced by some health workers.

You don’t need a master’s degree to teach someone how to put on or take off a suit. But some people learn faster than others,” said Rodríguez, who later issued a public apology."

Poor Excalibur, poor Teresa. I bet the Spanish people are furious.

The dog would be like a child to them. It's extremely cruel to kill the dog without even testing to see if it had the virus.
