http://www.politicususa.com/2014/10/24/worse-republicans-mitch-mcconnell-busted-non-kentucky-woman-ad.html<snip>
Mitch McConnell has done it again. The fading Kentucky Republican has gone beyond paying people to attend his rallies to having a non-Kentucky woman appear in his ad touting female support for Sen. McConnell in Kentucky.
<snip>
The New York Times reported, That woman, Dallas Knierman, who criticizes Ms. Grimes in the ad because she wants me to believe that strong women and strong values are incompatible, is registered in Mercer County, Pa., according to both states voter databases. On a personal blog, Ms. Knierman says she is student at the University of Louisville hailing from Pennsyltucky.'
Heres the thing. Pennsyltucky isnt a real place. It doesnt exist in Pennsylvania, or Kentucky. People who live in the central more rural and conservative part of the state like to refer to themselves as being from Pennsyltucky. Its almost unbelievable that on the same week that McConnell managed to get busted for having to buy supporters to come to his rallies, his campaign also got caught using a non-Kentucky voter in his new political ad.

(23,720 posts)There was also the stock photo of an African American woman that he used in an ad. Just goes to show that no self respecting Kentucky women would want to be seen supporting Mitch (Yertle the Turtle) McConnel in public.

(23,720 posts)You get 3 strikes and you're out when up at bat. There's 3 outs for both teams in a baseball inning. People die in 3's.
Remember this song?
Three is a magic number,
Yes it is, it's a magic number.
Somewhere in the ancient, mystic trinity
You get three as a magic number.
The past and the present and the future.
Faith and Hope and Charity,
The heart and the brain and the body
Give you three as a magic number.

(14,733 posts)Your average voter on the ground won't change their vote on that sort of political deception. If they're still planning to vote for McConnell at this point, they'll just make excuses for him over it.

(23,720 posts)Democrats need to speak to people in plain English and stop using language that sugar coats the criticism of Republicans because they're afraid to be perceived as not nice. Republican politicians and their operatives are not nice people and being nice to them or when speaking a bout them does not get Democrats anywhere. If you don't believe me just ask the President where being nice has gotten him with the Republicans.
People perceive Republicans as good ole boys and I think that is why folks are drawn to them. They do indeed feel they can sit and have a beer with them, it's folksy. But it's all an act, they really do despise these commoners that they feel they still have to pander to in order to get votes. The voters are nothing but rubes to them.
I firmly believe that the 47% percent video that exposed Romney for what he truly is- is what got Obama the lock his 2012 re-election. People saw that and were angered by it. It motivated people to get out there and vote. And I think Democrats need to continue exposing republican pols if they want to ger Democrats out to vote
One thing that I can think of right off that will get people motivated to vote; is to capitalize on Law Enforcement's ever growing use of force. If I were a politician, I seize an opportunity to make changes there. In fact, on a State level, I would be advocating for the De-militarism of law enforcement. I would also use the Republican's fiscal arguments about government waste of tax payer dollars and big government against them and I wouldn't be nice about it.

(10,597 posts)... they were told about it. If it shows up in the newspapers and on the KY TV news, then yes it might make a small difference. I worry that no one will be told about it. "Everything's rigged. And the Republicans rigged it!" ~~ Sen Elizabeth Warren.

(5,586 posts)That way they can avoid the Joe the Plumber situations. I mean, i like to see the Turtle go down in flames, but the level for "gotcha" politics has gone WAY down.
To be a real "gotcha" level, you have to do something pretty shocking, like the "legitimate rape" guy, or the dude that kissed his staffer on the security cam. Maybe a Condit situation.

(23,946 posts)His Koch based campaign of illusions and deceits being covered by an endless supply of TV ad money to purchase the votes by purchasing the media is so stinky all the smell can not be contained.

(18,625 posts)His campaign could completely collapse and he'd still win.
There are a hell of a lot more stupid Republicans that are loyal voters than educated Democrats.
Even if there were large majority of Democrats, only a small portion of them will vote while nearly all the Republican sheep will get out there and vote every time.
Sorry to be so negative and I know most of you don't believe it but as long as the Republicans have hoards of brainwashed imbeciles with rings in their noses to be pulled in for every election, they will always out vote Democrats who only vote when they feel like it.

(23,946 posts)pasteur of srupid liberals to exploit also.
I want to win. We have to. Stick to our principles and not deceive unlikely voters, or get them angry anyway, anyhow, we lose elections and the game gets even more rigged and then...there goes the country.
Sure, let's stick to our principles and refuse to form PAC's and Superpacs and restrict campaign spending, what about that principle abandoned?
Fuck Citizens United, stick to our liberal core principles and be outspent 10 to 1 everywhere, our principles will surely triumph.

(251 posts)I think Alison is going to win it, but it will be close. She will carry Louisville and Lexington strongly. I think she will also carry Northern Ky. If she carries Paducah, she will win. She does seem to be doing well there. Mitch does have his forces out, and I saw two of his dejected looking canvassers walking the streets in our neighborhood. If this was a war of yard signs in Louisville, Alison would win 30-1. I think most people see Mitch as just water under the bridge; "What's he done for you lately?" He did his job but we need a new face. We need someone new to talk about. As far as TV, Alison has held her own, Mitch looks and sound fake and shifty.
I just hope enough of our southern union coal counties jump on board with Alison and give the old geezer Mitch the boot.

(251 posts)I've seen two Mitch canvassers in my neighborhood this week. Maybe I should film them and ask what State they are from. They were loners with clip boards, one sitting on my neighbor's lawn futzing with his cell phone (probably calling HQ with the sad news). They could easily have been out-of-towners who's flight, room and board were paid for by billionaire money.
So yeah, I think I will ask next time I see one. Politely of course.
