I don't often post photos in GD. But when I do, I usually get away with it.

(110,907 posts)As we drove down part of the Carolina Blue Ridge, we started to see signs for French Broad Towing, French Broad Coal, the French Broad Market. When we got to the French Broad Motel, my mother finally asked what the hell was going on there, who the hell this French broad was.
When we crossed the labeled river half an hour later, it finally became clear.
I just wonder if the original white settlers who renamed that river had any idea...

(961 posts)It's just South of Rosman on Hwy 178, right?
Sometimes, when I go to Lake Jocassee, I'll take that route. Though usually from where I live in Biltmore Forest, I'll take I-26 to Hwy 25 into SC and then jump across on Hwy 11.

(1,918 posts)The first reminds me of a slightly chilled morning, looking out the window and sipping a cup of Sinful Nut Delight coffee, getting ready to start a day of working cattle. And the last two evoke the feeling of a crisp evening, settling in on the porch to watch the sun set and drinking a warm cup of chamomile tea. Your pictures just made me all warm and fuzzy inside.
I hope you get to share them with many others.
