We just did our taxes... we are accountants of course we wait until the last minute

$13,144.00 to live in this country and have our daughter in public schools and drive on roads to get her there.

We over paid by $291.62. Very close as usual but we did it right.

public schools are funded in large part through personal property taxes, and state roads are maintained through gasoline and sales taxes. So the amount of taxes you actually paid to help support the things you mentioned is probably somewhat higher than $13,144.
