Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Will Go Live For Election Night, Ridicule America In Timely Fashion

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are making Nov. 4 a little more interesting. As in previous years, both "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" will go live on election night -- allowing the hosts to make quips about the state of American government as the results roll in.

"The Daily Show" will call its program "Democalypse 2014: America Remembers It Forgot To Vote" -- a title which will likely be too real -- and will feature an appearance by Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus. "The Colbert Report" will then go on with "Midterms ‘014: Detour To Gridlock: An Exciting Thing That I Am Totally Interested In—Wait! Don’t Change The Channel. Look At This Video Of A Duckling Following A Cat Dressed Like A Shark Riding A Roomba! ‘014!" in which Colbert will discuss the election with Andrew Sullivan of The Dish.

Stewart and Colbert are seasoned pros, having covered the 2012 election live. After you've cast your ballot, tune into the specials Tuesday, Nov. 4, on Comedy Central.

I watched the Daily Show coverage in 2004, the only way I came through that election with my sanity intact.

Not much that happens election night, or any election night, will touch either of them personally.

For those who are comfortable, don't go to bed hungry, have a living wage or living pension, don't have to make a choice between driving and public transportation, are able to sleep in their own bed........ Need to do all the can to Get Out The Vote.

Mostly every person who will watch them election night, are worlds away from the desperate jobless.

Please forgive me. I live in Ohio. And am worried sick about 4 more years under John Kasich.

When I hear the turn out will be low, I just weep.

Stewart and Colbert are having a positive effect on the issues of poverty and getting out the vote. Of all the people in the world to take issue with it seems odd to choose these two.

Some of the only real news on the teevee comes from Stewart and Colbert. What make me want to cry is that any election is close. It's a very scary time in America that we have hundred of Joe McCarthys running and getting elected.
When the day comes, and I fear it will, that making fun of these clowns is forbidden, it's time to run for the exits.

I *wish* they were just clowns.

Oh wait, they're from the movie, "Killer Clowns from Outer Space".

the younger people are more interested in voting because of Colbert and Stuart. I am out-of-the-loop on that.

the fact is, Colbert and Stewart are a major source of "news" for their young(er) audience. And, their "broadcasts" are largely informative and accurate, albeit, with a humorous bent. And they tend towards liberalism. And, affect their audience's voting patterns.

They stayed away in record numbers.

Is it safe to say Colbert and Stewart failed at "getting out the vote?"

I think waaay too much credit is given to these comics. Young people watch, young people agree, young people laugh, young people don't vote.

that they would be on air from 10:00 p.m., 11/03 through 11:59 p.m., election day.

They could spend the first 18 hours, getting in folks' face about not voting ... that might help turn-out; and, the remaining time covering the election results ... while ridiculing folks for not voting.
