BAM!!................................
This public records request from American Bridge PAC to the office of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in response to his "sit down and shut up" bluster during an event in New Jersey on Wednesday is pretty funny:
The following request is being made in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.) and all other New Jersey open record laws.
At an event commemorating the two year anniversary of super-storm Sandy on October 29, 2014, Governor Christie claimed I've been here when the cameras werent here and did the work [on Sandy recovery]
We respectfully request a list of all trips to which Christie was referring - specifically trips to the Jersey Shore to work on Sandy recovery, where no cameras from the media or the Governors office were in attendance to record the event. [...]
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
http://americanbridgepac.org/app/uploads/NJ-Gov-OPRA-Sandy.pdf
The context: A New Jersey resident confronted Christie at a public event and accused Christie of being more interested in grandstanding than finishing recovery efforts, at which point Christie told him to "sit down and shut up," saying:
http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/10/christie_lashes_out_at_hecklers_democratic_nj_senators_for_delays_on_sandy_aid.html
Not a bad line, though it is ironic that it was delivered for the cameras. And now, with this public records request, we'll find out if it wasn't just another bout of hot air from Christie.

(81,220 posts)Oh yeah. That's what I want sitting across the table from the Iranians, or the Turks or the fill-in-the-blank-here's. Oh yeah. That'd be great.
Just what I want! A nice big blustering, aggressive, belligerent, in-yer-face, pugnacious, hot-headed, I-dare-ya-to-knock-this-planet-sized-chip-off-my-shoulder asshole BULLY.
ICK. And I also say ICK to all those people around him when he told that guy to sit down and shut up - who applauded and said "YEAH!!!" What kind of assholes are THEY? They like this shit? They approve of this disgusting behavior? Bunch of Neanderthals, I guess. No wonder they cheer for that and vote republi-CON.
They're the same kind of vermin who also said "YEAH!" and cheered when a debate moderator at one of the clown shows during the 2012 presidential campaign asked "well, what are we supposed to do? Let 'em die?"
They're the same kind of vermin who boo'd when that soldier live from the theater of a live shooting war in Iraq asked a question and said he was gay.
They're the same kind of vermin who cheered and applauded governor oops when he stood there proudly and boasted about all the executions of which he presided while governor of Texas.
They're human vermin. And I guess they like that sort of thing.
But I sure DON'T! If he's auditioning for MY vote, then HE can go sit down and shut up.

(8,200 posts)The Republican Party has been taken over by Ayn Rand disciples who espouse the survival of the fittest philosophy. People who are poor, sick or have lost the jobs are worthless dregs on society and should be eliminated. Everyone of the cases of their opposition to assist those in need reflects their fascist philosophy. They are determination to destroy every progressive piece of legislation ranging from the ACA to cutting food programs for children along with repeal of the Minimum Wage Laws, Unemployment Insurance, privatization of Social Security along with tax breaks for the millionaires for just a few examples. I can't help from thinking that the nation is headed for a sad awakening if these demagogues prevail.

But then again, they do like to pick 'n' choose, don't they!

(469 posts)... is often quite well-received by certain authoritarian-conservative types. They thin it proves that he's "tough", that he "won't take any BS from anybody". And many of that stripe actually believe that those are among the qualities that make a "great" leader.
The way I see it, if President Christie sat across a negotiating table from Putin, it would essentially be like Putin talking to a carbon-copy of himself!

The people who LIKE this shit, and approve of this shit - THEY are the problem. And we have to rehabilitate THEM. Wonder what their kids are like on the playground, if they admire and support this kind of bullying?

(82,849 posts)Compare and contrast Bridgegate Christie and SDASU* Christie. In Bridgegate, Gov. Christie wanted us to believe that he didn't know nothin' about no lane closures, and he sure as the world didn't talk to any of his senior advisers who decided a little payback was due to Fort Lee. SDASU Christie, on the other hand, is large and in charge! He doesn't take any guff from anybody, lies right to their face, and is at his bombastic best, playing to an appreciative audience so much that he repeats all his best lines to get another jolt of applause.
I wonder which Christie is the real one? The shrinking violet, delegator of all tasks, or the guy who's there when the cameras aren't around, doing the work? Will any of the millionaire news people who just love to have Christie come around the studio ask him?

Good for American Bridge PAC, let's see all the work you have done without anyone knowing. Problem is as Bridgegate pointed out, he is good at covering his tracks. Regarding Bridgegate I can't imagine him encouraging loose cannons in his organization, he had to know about the closure before it happened or at least as it was happening. And why would an underling do it without bragging about it to the boss and taking credit for it? He knew, it was probably a birthday present or some such thing.
