President Obama revs up a crowd of 6,000 in Motor City

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/11/barack-obama-gary-peters-michigan-senate-2014-112412.html

A raucous, 6,000-strong crowd turned out at the Wayne State University gym in the heart of the city to see Obama take the stage for Rep. Gary Peters, who’s running for Senate, and former Rep. Mark Schauer, who’s running for governor.

Obama returned in kind, energetically booming about the Democratic agenda, comparing Republicans to family members he still loves and would even invite over for Thanksgiving — but with bad ideas and whom he wouldn’t want making decisions.

“Some of the same folks who wanted to throw in the towel six years ago are asking for your vote now,” Obama said, veering off script as he fed off the crowd. “They got a lot of nerve.”

(snip)
“I want you to feel a sense of urgency these last three days,” Obama said. “Don’t let someone else choose your future for you.”
