I have very little sympathy for GOP people who complain about not having health care insurance or access to health care. What makes it worse is they do not want others to have health care because they don't. I do not understand twisted logic like that. They should be demanding decent health care like other people have. It is politics of resentment. And it seems to work for the GOP.
When we see those free clinic where people are coming in desperate to be taken care of I wonder how many of them are hard right Republicans. They are the cause of their own misery. It is fine that they are taken care of, but that is only for a brief time. Many of them need continuing care.

(29,047 posts)I would like everyone to have access to health care.
If someone doesn't have health care, and doesn't want health care, then there is no reason for sympathy.
If someone doesn't have health care, wants health care, and voted against health care, then they were likely mistaken. I don't want people to suffer for making a mistake. I don't even know how much free will people actually have.

who post here who claim their health care coverage is now a whole lot worse than it was before the ACA -- Obamacare.
Someone here posted about a sibling who lost coverage because of a pre-existing condition, and now is paying much more under the ACA.
The details matter. Does this person not understand that under the old rules, being cancelled because of a pre-existing condition meant you were SOL. At least now you can get coverage. Yes, it may cost more than you wish it would, but at least it's coverage.
Another important point in the ACA is that certain parts of basic coverage are free, such as yearly check-ups, and some aspects of basic care.
I recently, six months ago, went on Medicare. And while it is certainly not the same as coverage under the ACA, it should absolutely be a model for that. All of a sudden my prescription meds went from a $10/ copay to a $4/copay, and now are down to zero because I'm willing to have the meds sent to me on a three month prescription. Also, I don't have any co-pay whatsoever for doctor visits.
It should be like this for everyone.

(46,179 posts)That empathy indicates a healthy social-emotional state.
I also have compassion for all people, and creatures, who are suffering.
People who can not feel empathy or compassion for those who don't agree with them politically concern me.
In this case, I suspect you are not talking about health care, but about health insurance as a political football, but that's just my interpretation.
Meanwhile, I'll continue to value and support universal health CARE, which, by definition includes "goppers."
