Nevermind.. "It won't kick in until other states adopt their own rules.".. oh well it's start!

"Currently, only Connecticut and Maine have laws requiring labels for genetically modified food. But those requirements won't kick in until other states adopt their own rules. Bills to do just that are expected in more than two dozen states."

4. On Measure 91, it is worth noting that that result is in line with all previous polls save one.

In other words, legalization has consistently polled as winning, except for this widely trumped poll last week where it seems like they ganked the criteria as to who was a "likely voter" - 70% of the electorate being over 51, for starts, and everyone had to be answering a land line - that it almost seemed as if they were trying to deliberately conjure up a result that wouldnt totally demoralize the pro-prohibition folks.

Even with that it came out basically a statistical dead heat.

I think it may be close, but I think it will pass. VOTE!!!

Hell, I don't even smoke it anymore myself- maybe once every 5 years if someone passes me a joint at a Ratdog show, that's about it... but the drug war is such a gigantic, long running clusterfuck I'm THRILLED to see some long-overdue sanity on it coming down the pike.

En masse, Oregonians are a pretty sane bunch. I dont think people here wanted to be first but they'll be more than happy to be third.

Just how out of step with the natural order of things are we, that we would make a plant illegal? A PLANT.

People are so afraid of things these days. Ebola, ISIS, immigrants, "socialism," and now a plant. It's absurd. Let's hope we collectively get over that one at least.

To me this one seems like an outlier on Measure 91. It will be a long night to see if that one won or not.

I can believe Kitz is up by 10 though. He'll win a 4th term easily. Merkley will win a second term easily over Monica "the stalker" Wehby. Both of those ones will be called right at 8 pm.

It is all but certain she will fall down.

Sorry, I just ...cant say her name without doing that.

I think you're right about 91- not a done deal but I am optimistic.

Last I checked my mom was on the fence. I was trying to talk her into voting for it. My guess is she'll vote no. I don't push her anymore, but I let her know where I stand on things. I also have a better sense of what is going on even with being outside the US.

constant, usually-futile attempts to get her to move out here, so I can help her with stuff. She'd be all over it.

But hell, she could easily qualify for a medical card, too. She knows it's way better than her prescription meds for certain types of pain and inflammation.
