Good to see people mobilized. Too bad it's not over something that actually matters in the real world.

Imagine that these people get their wish and the Redskins change their name. Whoopee! I suppose its some sort of substitute for actually winning real political change.

By the way, I have Indian blood in me, and I spent a lot of my life in places with significant Indian populations. Most Indians I know don't really give a shit what the call the Washington football team. They, and I, are more interested in better living conditions and opportunities on the rez and in metro areas with large native populations.

I think these kinds of movements are actually kind of sad. They settle for fighting symbolic battles because they think they can't win real ones that would actually improve people's lives.

I guess those loony lefties can't walk & chew gum at the same time.

BTW, you have "Indian" blood? Which region of India?

The only thing that is "actually kind of sad" is your post minimizing the insult to our native peoples.

that occurred. Along with an abject apology for said land theft.

A pipe dream, I know.

As for those people marching to protest the team name 'Redskins'. Will they also march when the Grand Jury doesn't indict killer cop Wilson and the Feds go along?

ancestors means something in this Ojibwe's "real world". How lucky for you that it means nothing to you. To me, it is a national disgrace.

How do people not understand how twisted it is to use a term that once described the original American's appearance as war trophies (ya know, like bear skins, buffalo skins....)? It's a dehumanizing term and it's use in a contact sport rings of a very ugly metaphor.
