In the race for Florida Governor, which has been neck and neck for months, a new poll by Zogby Analytics shows former Governor Charlie Crist now leading incumbent Governor Rick Scott 45% to 38%. Libertarian Adrian Wyllie is polling an impressive 8% and 9% are undecided.
The poll of 688 likely Florida voted was conducted online October 28-31 and has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3.8 percentage points.
While Crist and Scott are about tied among men, Crist is benefiting strongly from a 13 point lead among women (47% to 34%). Crist also enjoys strong support from 18-29 year olds (45% to 30%) and 30-49 year olds (52% to 32%). Crist also leads among 50-64 year olds by 7 points (46% to 39%), while Scott is ahead among voters over 65 (48% to 37%). Crist has the support of 84% of Democrats and Scott holds 74% of Republicans. But Crist has a lead of 6 points among independents (37% to 31%). Wyllies strongest support comes from independents (14%), retirees (12%), and whites (11%).
Crist is behind Scott among white voters (43% 39%), but more than makes up for that deficit with commanding leads among Hispanics (50% to 37%) and African Americans (82% to 6%). Scott is ahead in the GOP north (48% to 34%) but that is not enough to offset Crists commanding lead in the Democratic bastion of South Florida where Crist leads by 23 points (53% to 30%). Crist also leads in the important swing region known as the I-4 Corridor (47% to 38%).

(1,305 posts)Definitely don't want Rick Scott in charge in 2016...
Especially if Jeb runs.

(17,378 posts)I didn't know he was still in business. Crist has had the edge in polling for the past few weeks, but I take this particular poll with a grain of salt.

(44,173 posts)Just a warning. While they sometimes get things right, they have also had some spectacular embarrassments in the past.

(9,214 posts)Crist is a Republican lite acting like a Democrat not a Democrat acting like Republican lite. I need to think about this for awhile.

(8,964 posts)Crist is about as far to the left (or middle) as one could be and still win a statewide election.

No matter what the polls look like, Repugs always do much better than expected in the actual election results.

(27,558 posts)just judging by how little support Scott has here in North Florida (i.e. deep red Florida)... He has to win these areas by 65% + to win. He isn't going to get that.

Charlie Crist of Florida, the former Republican turned Democrat, is just slightly more likely than not to oust Republican Gov. Rick Scott from office. A slightly safer bet for a Democratic pickup is in Kansas, where Paul Davis has a 81 percent chance of beating Republican incumbent Sam Brownback.

(23,099 posts)It was reported this morning that there was a 1.4% edge for Crist. Was that more just trying to depress Dem turnout or is that real?
Since this was on Morning Jo, I'll go with the depress turnout view, lol.
We voted already and that's 4 votes for Crist. Hope lots of people early vote because I don't trust them not to run the no ballots available scam or any other scam they can think of to keep Voldemort in office.

(165 posts)don't have any idea that Scott was a 14 charged and convicted felon from TX. The GOP moved him to FL to win the Governorship, knowing the voters were old and senile.
