I emphasize Primary Reason.

I perceive the Republicans as being the opposite of most of my political views. The Democrats don't really represent my political views, but they're not opposite. Voting and not voting is propaganda in our current situation. It's manipulation. So I choose to use that propaganda/manipulation in a way that I perceive as harming me the least amount.

I respect those who use that propaganda/manipulation for other purposes.

When I vote for POTUS, I just vote whatever since I live in a red state and my electoral college vote will go to the Republican however I vote. I often write in names.

...as it turns out a Republican has never come close to standing where I need them to stand on policies.

I vote Dem 99.9% of the time. I have, although very rarely, voted R for one of the vacancies on our town board. Usually, there are multiple positions open.

So yeah, almost every candidate I vote for ends up being a Dem, even though I'm not a Dem these days.

I won't vote for an antichoice candidate in either party. It's just not going to happen.

but that's usually Democratic. I'm actually voting for a Republican turned Independent for governor this year because our Dem candidate joined with him as lieutenant govenor, and I would vote for a lamppost if it meant getting Sean Parnell out of office.

Because ultimately the worst D is better than the best R. I vote for the most liberal candidate in the primary, but the nominee is usually decided by convention.

My state has not elected a GOP senator since the 70s, and he left office before I was born. We did have a GOP senator briefly last year but that's because my governor is an idiot.

My (new as of redistricting) congressional district is a different story. I have a Republican congressman in there (who was first elected when I was 7 months old) who's only goal is to stop abortion. I would vote for a ham sandwich with a D next to its name before I'd vote for the idiot. But short of a rock star running, the seat's safe GOP.
