Because we hit a record low this morning. It was only 50 degrees at 10:30 and my children looked like little eskimos on our walk.

the highs have been in the 50s and 60s, and we've had exactly one hard frost...when the norm for now includes lows in the 20s heading to the teens, and highs in the 30s and 40s, heading for the dark frozen time when we can go days without ever approaching a temperature above freezing.

but we haven't had much snow yet, just one snowfall on Oct 20, about an inch here in the Anchorage bowl. I read that this is another year for the vortex, which means our winter will be mild and yours won't be.

The kids wore winter coats for trick or treating but I don't recall the temp. We moved to N Central Fl in late 92. It's going down to the 30s tonight. I don't ever remember this cold this early here.

I think that was the coldest it has ever been. All the cars were lined up at the service stations to get anti-freeze.

Teens were recorded on much of the Florida peninsula in a round of cold snaps during the 1980s but certainly nowhere close to Miami.

Sunday's reading of 52 was indeed the record low for Nov 2. Saturday's record was also 52, set in 1993. The record for today is 54, Tuesday's record is 50 and Wednesday's record is 45. So while definitely unusual it's not unprecedented.

I thought that they had turned the A/C in the terminal down to freezing.

Outside temperature was 35 degrees, but it was 2 below in NY so I was ahead of the game.

That week it was never above 65 in Key West and went into the 40s nearly every night.

Then again, the worst winter I've experienced was Maine in August. 30s every night. Water temperature in the low 50s. Inhaling mosquitoes. A lovely vacation.

My grandmother told me that they saw an occasional snowfall (dusting) in her hometown of Conversano in Italy. She was born in 1894 and left Italy in 1921.
