A Tribute To My Deceased Father

He passed away 27 years ago due to cirrhosis of the liver at the age 65, I was 21. He would be turning ninety two in few days if he were here today.

We fought and we never had a chance to bond due to his alcoholism. I did not understand the demons in his head and why he took it out on me.

He never talked about what he went through as young man in his war torn country during World War 2. I wish I knew about his struggles so I could understand his pain and anger.

In his better days before the war he enjoyed playing the mandolin. Never heard him play since he injured his hand in the war. Here ya go Pop, I hope we will meet again some day under better circumstances.

I did try to help him as much as possible in his last days, I still wish we could of had more together. War led to alcohol and we all suffered, the pain lingers on.

I needed to get it off my chest, been doing a lot of soul searching as of late. I can't afford a shrink so DU will have to do for now.
