Things are worse now than they were in 1980. The rightwing march toward a corporate state is much more entrenched than it was then.

Just look at the composition of the Supreme Court, Citizens United, the redistribution of wealth to the top one percent. We are well along toward the complete domination envisioned by the Powell Manifesto. http://reclaimdemocracy.org/powell_memo_lewis/

to be going back to the 1890's. We're pretty much there now. If you don't know about it, read up.

but they want to go much deeper back than that.

We watched what they did with their majorities in WI, Michigan, Ohio.

Reagan type republican policy would be anti-union and pro privatization, but they want more than that...they want to kill the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Endangered Species Acts, they want to kill medicaid and medicare that's going back befor the 1960's. They want to end SS as we know it, that's back to the 1920s (remember how well that ended?). They want to get rid of the 8 hour day and the 5 day work week so part of what they want is pre-1900s.

And it's impossible to not notice that there are a bunch of them that want to end the Commerce Clause, and all federal regulation. Which suggests that they won't be happy until it regresses to what it was before the 1780s, which is to say they want to back to the way it was before there was a United States.
