Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere were mass global protests in 400 cities Nov. 5th.
It was the 3rd Annual Million Mask March.
My questions is.....did anyone here see or hear about it on MSM??
Not interested in debating the pros or cons of the march itself, just want to know was there any MSM coverage.
(for the record, Ferguson did have its share of marchers)

(525 posts)I follow a few folks from SA, UK, Europe, Africa, and Asia. I'm stunned by what doesn't get mentioned in the US media. Also, it's good to follow independent media as well.
It's also striking to watch a group of people AT an event and then read the reports in the media. You see the agenda of the media so clearly.

(7,908 posts)100 people showed up outside police headquarters in Ferguson that night.
I don't watch or read the MSM and have not done so since the lies that gave us the Iraq War, so cannot speak to what was there.
I also believe I saw something about Russell Brand appearing at the MMM in London. But wasn't tuned in on the frequency then, so may be mis-remembering.

dreadful coverage.

(7,908 posts)his claim to fame is. I don't spend much time in the culture of celebrity or pop culture, so I'm a bit of an oddball. But I see his name here and elsewhere attached to reasonably progressive views, so thought I'd mention it.

(60,010 posts)very very smart, super fast talker, you can see the ideas whirling around in his head, quite clever.
He is a British stand up comedian, who has become very active in global issues/politics, and has a video show called The Trews, which is a news show.
All over Youtube, for those who want to check him out.
When I first saw/heard him I thought "Rasputin"..he has very dark hair, beard, and a wicked gleam in his eye.
I have to take him in small doses, all that energy and ideas can be a bit overwhelming for those of us in the slow lane of life.

(101,318 posts)I've seen it said to be 'anti-austerity', 'anti-corruption', and a generic "unfuck the world".
If I were them, I'd drop the 'million' claim; unless you get close to a million, it just associates you with the recent failed 'million' this or that movements.
I looked at a map of where the marches were, and in Britain, there were about 10, but as likely to be in a village of 1,000 people as in a city. So I doubt there were many people apart from the couple of thousand in London. And I therefore doubt there were a million around the world.

(101,318 posts)That sounds rather unbelievable. I don't think there's any evidence they got anywhere near 1.6 million.

(2,921 posts)More than 100,000 workers took to the streets in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday to protest austerity cuts and free-market reforms that are set to cut vital social services, freeze wages, and raise the retirement age.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to break up the protest, which saw laborers and other low-wage workers marching peacefully through downtown Brussels to mark the start of an anticipated month-long campaign against the country's newly elected center-right government.
The actions will culminate with a nationwide strike on December 15.
"They are hitting the workers, the unemployed. They are not looking for money where it is, I mean, people with a lot of money," one worker, Philippe Dubois, told the Associated Press.
Belgium's recently elected coalition, which shuts out the Socialist Party for the first time in decades, is made up of three pro-business parties and the centrist Christian Democrats. The coalition said it was forced to institute these new free-market reforms in order to comply with the European Union's budget restrictions.
But residents and other politicians disagreed. Former Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo, a Socialist Democrat, told Reuters UK, "I share the concern of the people and the measures of the government are unjust."
Thursday's action partially shut down business and blocked major intersections in Brussels, where the headquarters of the European Union are stationed, as finance ministers arrived in the city to moderate talks between employers and union leaders. Images from Thursday showed the march coming to a turbulent end among overturned cars and burning trash cans. NBC News reported that 120,000 took part in the demonstration.
According to Reuters UK, rail operators sold 80,000 tickets in advance and scheduled an extra 15 trains so that workers from rural areas could plan ahead to join Thursday's protest. Union leaders also booked 500 buses to transport people from around the country to the capital.

American's MSM are one of top three reasons why America are in decline. They wouldn't be welcomed into New England if America empire collapses.

(32,886 posts)The protests seemed to be against Austerity measures in the EU. I can tell you that overseas regional issues like that are a total turn off for US audiences and so they aren't covered.

(2,941 posts)Citizen journalist xxx expressed her feelings about police: The fact that riot cops come to peaceful protests and that intimidates people and makes them afraid to express their grievances is insulting. The fact that people equate protesting with getting arrested even if no laws are broken is insulting. It took me two years to realize that yes, in fact, all cops actually are bastards even if they think they are good people doing good things.

(65,616 posts)the M$M has decided what we will and will not see on the TVEE. ONE thing they made sure of, ignore Dem protests - embellish ANY RWing protest (if 10 show up, say 1000).
It is dishonest and dangerous to society, but money trumps all in America.
