I think DU is a great place to read a wide variety of view points, and by large, I think most of those views are from people that want to help others in this world. That being said, I just do not see how so many people can keep supporting the current leadership of the Democratic Party with their words here. I can understand how you support them with your votes out in the real world, because that is what most pragmatic people will do and I applaud pragmatism. But your words here do not have to be so measured. The right string of words here can be the first pebble in an avalanche of real change, if we want it to be that way.
To be blunt, I think we need to aim big in 2016. I don't think Hillary would be a great departure from the status quo of corrupt American politics. Will she be better than many alternatives? Absolutely. And if she ends up being the nominee, we should do our best to make her President. But we have a solid year to try and achieve more, to climb higher, to be better and bolder. I have a few ideas on the subject, and would really like to share them with you if any one is interested. Because this is not the time for moping and apathy. A little effort now can really pay off down the road and make a difference, so please don't hesitate to chime in or contact me.

(25,699 posts)What i've come away with is that there are a lot of posters here for whom this is all just high-stakes fantasy football.
They want their "team" to win. They don't really care about much else, they just want the bragging rights, to know that htey picked hte right horse. It's prestige, rather than principle. They really don't give a shit what a given Democrat stands for, so long as htey run as a Democrat. I have no doubt that if David Duke were to come back to the democratic Party, we'd be seeing these peopel tell us "hold your nose and vote, he's not a Republican!"

(55 posts)and I will stand up and state it loudly. Now saying that I am trying to obtain a grasp on why you are saying that most of the views here on DU are from people wanting to help others in this world. If anyone should be helping anyone we as Democrats need to tend to ourselves. I have NEVER been so disappointed in the disgusting numbers of non-voters in this primary and the majority are Dems.
But am I going to whine, cry and even give the Repugs/Independents/Tea Baggers any idea of that. Hell no! I've told them I am very glad this steam-roller of the Dems has happened. In fact I think it is completely humorous and just opens the door wide freakin' open for Hillary Clinton.
So far "they" are scared to death. If you want to help the next steam-roller of the Dems proving history wrong get off your freaking ass and get the young folks registered, go take an older person who can't drive to the polls....just get up and get going. No time to be a couch potato! MOVE IT!
