What do Republicans want??

They always want taxcuts. They want these American companies that have made billions overseas in the last decade to be able to bring their profits back to the security of the US banking system without paying any taxes at all.

Also, they want the Keystone XL pipeline. They are always looking for ways to embrace Big Oil.

These are their two biggest desires.

If the President and the Democrats have any plans to give these gifts to the Republicans, they should get something in return other than simply showing they are a Party willing to compromise work with Republicans. That is giving up and getting nothing in return. This is a time for Democrats to look for tough negotiators.

Is to keep the ACA alive.

But I don't think the Democrats should make any deals. They should instead call the GOP out along the line of the first two paragraphs.

And maybe it's wishful thinking, but I want the ACA repealed and every fucking health insurance company in existence be given the death penalty. Pull their corporate charter. Let us citizens insure ourselves through Medicare Part E(Everyone). Paid for by taxes collected from every business in existence as well as on individual taxpayers. One way or another, come hell or high water, we need to have health care without the fear of financial ruin. That's what this Democrat wants, but it's just me.

had this massive consumer economy and they act like we hold no cards at all. Businesses have to relocate offshore to avoid the high taxes here? It never had to be allowed. We could still be making most of our own stuff right here and companies would be profitable. Maybe not as profitable as they would like.

We still produce most of our own food. We have the resources, technology and workforce to do eveything else as well. There is no way to convince me we couldn't.

Having worked for years at a beer distributor, I can assure you the supplier does not dictate terms to customers. The beverage department manager at a big store calls the shots. If you want to bring in a shit ton for the 4th of July weekend, he pretty much makes all the decisions. Price is regulated by the states so he can't do much there, but if you want to have a big holiday week sales-wise, you put it up where and how he tells you. There is no reason why anyone doing business in this country shouldn't expect to run things in our best interest.
