Debbie Wasserman Schultz forms a Committee to Investigate the Committee

A party committee will conduct a "top-to-bottom assessment" of the Democrats' performance in recent midterm elections and try to determine why they have struggled to turn out its core voters in non-presidential elections.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/08/democrats-election-review_n_6126576.html

The answer is simple. In Presidential elections the entire national political party focuses on one individual. If that individual is talking a good game, people respond.

If all that talk doesn't turn into action, or worse, if the candidate later does the OPPOSITE of the things they said they would do to get elected, people lose their trust. They register that distrust and dissent during midterms.

Liberals worked at grass roots efforts to get Obama elected. As soon as 2008 was over, DNC ripped everything up and pretended cross-over conservatives elected Obama (lol). They went straight to work rewarding Republicans and Wall Street.

If conservatives were impressed at all with Obama in 2008, they were impressed by the community driven, 50 states, grass roots efforts by LIBERALS to get LIBERALS to vote.

In 2014, candidates distanced themselves from Obama, but that is a superficial analysis. Candidates were really running away from the liberal framework who put them into office.

We now have four political parties that hate liberals.

1. Tea Party
2. 3rd Way
3. Republicans
4. Democrats

Democrats like Hillary Clinton hold $250,000 Wall Street speaking sessions to solicit ideas from the gilded upper class and talk of the working class as obstacles to their own self-fulfillment.

When it comes to improving the quality of life (wages, health care, justice, civil rights) for American workers, only liberals have a proven track record of success. Everyone else is a distant second.

After purging liberals from the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is doing exactly what ass-covering out-of-touch administrators do. She has formed a committee to investigate the committee.

Here's what needs to be on the whiteboard, somewhere near the top:

Clueless, soul sucking administrators and bean counters have made the Democratic Party as inspiring as a loaf of Wonder Bread; white, spongy and flavorless.

We deserve better. Much better.

back in 2011. Of course, its erstwhile members have not gone anywhere, but I'm unaware of any organization that has taken the place of the DLC that DWS could head up.

The mainstream media of course is also controlled by these corporate entities and don't talk much about how both the DLC and now the Third Way corrupts the Democratic Party to try and isolate progressive influence over any kind of legislation or other governmental governance.

But we need to expose these people at the grass roots level and speak out at the grass roots level. I think we need to get a lot of local Democratic groups (PCPs, etc.) in everyone's communities to work at the grass roots levels to be more aggressive and coordinated in voting in and publishing party resolutions that will take strong progressive stands against things like TPP and Keystone, and take strong supportive positions on things like Social Security to remind the president in a way that it will be hard for corporate media to ignore who he is working for, and what he should be doing with his signing or veto pan when bills come his way the coming two years.

Perhaps this is the way we'll need to ensure that the progressive voices get heard when we really won't have much congressional support the coming term. I think such actions will also help Democrats as a minority in congress to see where they need to stand in 2016 to retake the congress with hopefully a more progressive president so at that point we can really start the long delayed process of fixing this economy, addressing pressing issues like Climate change, and having our economy self-sustaining with building up our middle class of domestic workers being hired here again instead of being outsourced.

to educate myself about this.

DUer MineralMan had a great thread a couple days ago about how, if we want to change the party, we need to start getting involved in party activities. I've never really done that, not being much of the 'joiner' type, although I have volunteered plenty on various campaigns. So I'm giving serious consideration now to MM's advice.

She already had Republican friends in Florida that she was trying to protect from being challenged by more progressive Democrats then as noted in this article from that time...

http://washingtonnote.com/venting_about_d/

And she was the one along with Nancy Pelosi that stood against pursuing any kind of impeachment of George Bush or the other war criminals in his administration too.

Obama had the goods on her then. But still picked her to replace Dean at the DNC and hired the jerk Rahm Emanuel to head up his cabinet too. We need to get someone better in 2016 who won't make these same mistakes (or perhaps planned and hidden agenda actions if they weren't really "mistakes&quot .

Where millions didn't vote because of these assclowns and the only thing they worry about is keeping their hands on the power levers. We need to get seriously active at the local and state levels in our democratic central committees and lift up our own candidates. No donations to the party heads and the candidates they support.

the Pissed Off Dem Base that has been and remains "tossed under the bus" by the Third Way Dem Leadership who searches for answers from people they hire to continue to ignore the base???

Or will they seal the deal, blame it All on the Dem Wing--and bury the "disloyal pesky" base all together, once and for all?

Imo-The answers they seek will never be answered as long as the Dem Wing is denied their (our) seat at the table.
Unless and until that happens-Dems will continue to lose elections-Words no longer matter to "us"--their records, otoh--Do.

So, will we see More Voter Suppression action by 2016 (by then Everybody is gonna see whats going on in DC & they Will Fear the electorate even More) or will we see a Dem Leadership not just Listen to their Base--but "hear" them as well?

Durbin will be 70 at the end of the year and he is the youngest of the 4.

All of them are respectable people who fought hard for the party. Give them an honorary title but try to find people somewhat younger to lead.

The bench for Democrats is extremely poor, as shown by the lack of competition to HRC. This should be concerning to us, but clearly, we are going to reappoint the same leaders who led us to this situation.

Added : and also work on doing better when it comes to state legislatures and governorships. The DGA chair was not able to get 50 % on his own election. This should tell us something. Only one solution: 50 state strategy.

“Scoop” Independent News
Washington, D.C.

Karen Thurman is the current Chairman of the Florida Democratic Party. Al Cardenas is the former Chairman of the Florida Republican Party and a major player in Republican politics in Florida. Al pays Karen $3,500 a month to lobby Democrats in Washington in behalf of Miami-Dade County.

Ms. Thurman gets $100,000 a year for the full time position of party chair. Apparently she’s giving 242% since the Cardenas contract and another extracurricular endeavor earn her an extra $142,000 beyond the cool $100,000 she gets from the Democrats.

The St. Petersburg Times quoted Rep. Dan Gelber, (D-Miami Beach) as saying: "Everybody in political life navigates the ironies of relationships and friendships. It's ironic, but it's not improper." This was typical of the tolerance shown by others in the Florida Democratic establishment to this apparent conflict.

It could have been more ironic. The other firm representing Miami-Dade in Washington is Greenberg Taurig of Miami where convicted felon and former Republican operative Jack Abramoff served as a partner.

Does anyone here think that it is funny how nothing has changed in the past seven years? Why do you think that might be? Could it be that the same people are still in charge?
