http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Secret-Lists-that-Swip-by-Greg-Palast-Democratic_Elections_Senate_Senate-Race-141119-909.htmlStatistics guru Nate Silver simply can't understand why every single legitimate poll indicated that Democrats should have gotten 4% more votes in the midterm elections than appeared in the final count
The answer, Nate, is "Crosscheck."
(snip)
Nate Silver might want to punch these numbers into his laptop:
In North Carolina, Republican Thom Tillis upset incumbent Senator Kay Hagan by just 48,511 votes. North Carolina's Crosscheck purge list targeted a stunning 589,393 voters.
In Colorado, Cory Gardner, the Republican, defeated Mark Udall by just 49,729 votes. Colorado's Crosscheck "potential double voter" list totals 300,842.
The Crosscheck purge list also swamped GOP Senate margins in Alaska and Georgia and likely provided the victory margins for GOP gubernatorial victories in Kansas and Massachusetts.

(60,010 posts)If Dems really wanted to win, focusing on the unregistered voters is the way to go, esp. in this age of Voter ID requirements.
Repugs are stealing elections all over the place.
Wish I even had Dem candidates to vote for here.

(1,112 posts)This should be publicized relentlessly to let people know that the Republicans did NOT "win" and there is no mandate...

(60,010 posts)and remember, during the '60's, people going from door to door asking if anyone needed a ride to the polls.
Back then, and right up till mid 1995???? the League of Women Voters was in charge of much of election stuff...including debates.

(5,557 posts)Yes, crosscheck likely disenfranchised a number of voters and is definitely in need of reform but I do not believe it cost us these seats. The blame is with the message (or lack there of).
If hundreds of thousands were truly denied the right to vote based on 'oh you are registered in two states, you can't vote', facebook and other social media would be flooded with stories of it. I didn't see this happen. Crosscheck is not why we had record lows in election turnout.
It is easy to try and point the blame and say 'they stole the election!' because this would eliminate the need for admitting failure and change. We need to reject this temptation and focus on why our message did not get people to go out and vote.
