Gun sales surge ahead of jury’s Ferguson decision

What a sad indictment of this country and our screwed up priorities. All the fear mongering is apparently having its desired effect.

FERGUSON, Mo. — Some suburban St. Louis gun dealers have been doing brisk business, particularly among first-time buyers, as fearful residents await a grand jury’s decision on whether to indict the police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown.

Metro Shooting Supplies, in an area near the city’s main airport, reports selling two to three times more weapons than usual in recent weeks – an average of 30 to 50 guns each day – while the jury prepares to conclude its three-month review of the case that sparked looting and weeks of sometimes-violent protests in August.

“We’re selling everything that’s not nailed down,” owner Steven King said. “Police aren’t going to be able to protect every single individual. If you don’t prepare yourself and get ready for the worst, you have no one to blame but yourself.”

The store’s waiting list for private lessons and concealed-carry training classes extends into 2015.

Nothing good can come of all these weapons on the street in Ferguson with all of the tension they have right now. I can see this coming, if Black people do any shooting they will get arrested, if White people do it they are protecting themselves and their property.

We had a shooting here in OKC last night. A man tried to shoot an intruder in his home, missed him and shot and killed his wife instead. Amazing how many people are killed with their own guns.

The Quakers have a saying: "when you buy a handgun you have already committed murder in your mind."

Since there will be no violent protests, mass looting, no apocalyptic race war or whatever the hell the media is pushing on this Ferguson verdict, some of the guns bought by these "60% first time owners" will wind up killing their kids (playing with them, showing off, etc), their wives (during domestic disputes) or someone else in their community.

The bloodlust in these articles about Ferguson is sickening. The thing we should fear is fear itself -- true as ever.
