Is there anyone finer than our emergency responders who risk their own personal safety in times of peril in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the public?
I think not.

(42,759 posts)the people we really need always get the dirty end of the stick. Upper management types who spend their day shmoozing and planning their next golf vacation always get paid much more than they could ever really justify being worth.

(7,499 posts)These everyday heroes are some of the best among us. That was no easy task in deep snow and bone chilling cold. Kudos to them!
Very proud of my nephew who is a firefighter and paramedic.

is always getting it's ass kicked weather-wise, and time and time again
I saw people looking out for one another. My parents still live in
that area, (91yrs. and 88yrs. ) and every year there's a guy across the street
with a plow and sees to it that they never have to shovel. They are some of
the most wonderful people on the planet...there's love in their hearts, not
that other stuff.....

Lake effect can be a hell of a thing.
Sorry to hear about your drought.

(41,831 posts)and the forecast says rain till Sunday, but I am not sure I can believe it.. it rains so little around here any more. I was surprised to see it today, normally it may rain and then we won't see any more till the following year. Everything has turned brown. In some parts of California there is water restrictions. Also greater chances of grass fires.
