Got an Email from Wasserman-Schultz today

asking for my opinion and boy they got it in spades

But will it ever do any good to tell them what they are doing wrong? Surely they aren't all that stupid.

I am tired of this cowering, rolling over, Third Way, DLC shit. Out with the old and in with real progressive thinking and fresh new faces and ideas. All the old fucking corporate hacks can go flip themselves.

If they don't get it this time they never will.

And by the way, James Mountain Inhoff, how about that weather in Buffalo????????????????????????????

Think we'll be kicked out of the party?

My reply also covered a lot of what you say you said. It may not do any good, but it sure made me feel better.

I don't care if I get kicked out -I am an old fart and tired of waiting for my progressive ship to come in, I don't have time for this crap.

And yes, it made me feel great to unload on them

I also said that all the leadership should be removed immediately, and that vacant posts until a true progressive was found would be no worse than we have now.

My replies to what they did well were along the lines of: disenfranchise the base, set a sky is falling tone, run away from the president, ...

I was very snarky to say the least.

For the good of the party. You have endorsed republicans over progressive democrats who won hard fought primaries in Florida. You have a lousy history with the 'party'.

PLEASE RESIGN! And please take Tant Richard from Florida's state party with you. We don't need any friends of the Bush's 'leading' the party in Fla, when Jeb runs! GET OUT NOW!

How's that?

She wants my opinion?

Resign from being the chairman of the Democratic Party.

She is helping no-one.

Recruit Dr. Dean for another round or thirteen for the Democratic Party. We must bring America back to sanity.

on the same e-mail. Don't think we will ever here the true results. Basically let her so called team have it about going third way shit and candidates that are in her Cocktail Circuit. We had a great candidate running against Joe Heck and this jerk would not bring in any help as far as money or people power. Biden showed up for a photo op and left. Third way fix was in. Casino money is more important than people baby. Talk about a Rahm Emanuel slug bug.

several days ago-but before I did--I did offer my ideas...asked for her resignation. I also suggested that "don't bother sending out a bunch of surveys/questionaries' that are carefully structured so as not to allow for "full feedback" from us. If you sincerely Want to know what's wrong and why we aren't responsive to your policies/ideas etc? Send People out to communities for "town halls" around the states and Talk With Us and be ready to take notes and Listen and make changes".

I see they listened lol

Basically get back to being Democrats instead of Wall Street Third Way nonsense. Follow the lead of Elizabeth Warren, not DINOS.

It's almost surely a waste of time but it felt good to fire away at them.

Didn't see an email. Usually the survey letters are really requests for money anyway.

Not much I can say anyway, since we got clobbered in my district about 60-40.

What do you think the Democrats did well in the 2014 elections?

As far as I can tell just about nothing.

I am currently unemployed. I was deluged by e-mails begging for money. I didn't have money but I did have time to offer. I've volunteered to get out the vote for years. This year no one contacted me. I'm in a red district in a Blue State. I found out that there actually was a Democrat running against Chris Smith by Googling news reports and looking him up on Facebook--seemed like a nice guy. I realize he was a longshot but some effort on the part of the party would have been welcome.

This seemed to happen throughout the country. Whatever happened to Howard Dean's 50 State Strategy? Democrats don't even bother to run in many state races leaving the state legislatures to the Republicans who then jerrymander districts to their advantage. Is this any way to run a political party?

What do You think the Democratic Party can do differently to be more successful in midterm elections?
1. It's STILL the economy, stupid--though you'd never know if from listening to Democrats.
2. Formulate and clearly articulate policies that benefit Americans who work for a living.
4. 5. Stand up for working people. Fair trade-not Free Trade!
6. When you get in power, if you ever get in power again, do a good job--no do a great job. Voters want to see their money used wisely. They reward competence. With a few exceptions, Gov. Jerry Brown comes to mind, Democrats have not exactly exuded competence lately.
7. Don't run and hide from your President and his record like scared little rabbits. His poll ratings are a lot higher than those of those Congresscritters and Senators who disowned him.
8. We have one party (the GOP) that has no brains and another (the Democrats) that has no balls.
9. Speaking of gonads, women are not just vaginas. They actually do care about things other than birth control and abortion. Once again, It's the economy, Stupid.
10. As a fellow woman named Debbie I hate to say this but Wasserman-Schultz has got to go.

What can the Democratic Party do to turn out more voters in midterm elections?

Once again, rediscover your vision
1.. Give people something to vote for. Saying "we suck less than they do" is not exactly inspiring.
2. Make sure that people understand what Democrats stand for.
3. Add a little poetry--politics is about emotion. Republicans get it. Democrats don't.
4. Recruit candidates who have a pulse and who above all can relate to working people.
5. Microtargeting has it's place but if you overdue it you risk becoming identified as only the party of the groups who already 'like' you and miss a chance to appeal to a broad range of people. Democrats got slaughtered by white men--including working class men who used to vote for them.
6. Use local volunteers, ask them, they'll be flattered.
