A paradox of American politics is that Republicans take organized labor more seriously than Democrats do.
The right sees unions as a mainstay of the left, a crucial source of cash, campaign manpower and votes.
Unions are the largest player in American politics and they will be for some time, Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, declared in March at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Fourteen million Americans have to pay union dues. If they average $500, and that is a low estimate, thats a $7 billion slush fund for the left.
Democrats are happy to get labors votes and money, but they have done little to revitalize the besieged movement.
FULL story at llink.
Bandit
(21,475 posts)When over a hundred billion is being spent on mid-term elections, 7 billion doesn't even make a ripple, and besides the fact that more than ninety percent of union dues goes for other things than political donations..

(23,105 posts)He's pushing the meme about unions to cover up the Kochs, Sheldon Adelson, etc. He is trying the usual tactic of "it's all the same", when it's truly not. Dems have no one spending the money to steal the elections like the Kochs do. You notice all their and Americans for Prosperity ads are total hit pieces. They never actually cover policies or ideas, just fear, fear, fear.
He's such a tool!
