Mississippi Tea Baggers Declare Christianity Official State Religion.

Only in Mississippi. Tea Baggers there plan to put up a constitutional amendment that declares Christianity the official religion of the state of Mississippi in 2016. They claim that such a claim goes back to the founding of the state itself. Will they also try to legalize slavery again?

the courts would shoot that thing down like a slow duck..

These days the Constitution doesn't seem to mean much to Republicans who, without a hint of irony, are claiming Obama is shredding it...

Proposed amendment seeks to make Christianity Mississippi's official religion

OXFORD, MS (WMC) - A new ballot initiative in Mississippi may give voters the right to proclaim Christianity as the state's religion, make English the official language, and ‘Dixie' the state's song.

Members of the Magnolia State Heritage Campaign are seeking signatures to allow voters to decide whether or not to pass the proposed changes.

According to the group's website, Initiative 46 would ‘amend the Constitution to restrict or define Mississippi's heritage in the following areas: religion, official language, state flag, nickname, song, motto, and state university mascots.'

Mississippi law allows citizens to propose constitutional amendments.

Petitioners must file paperwork with the offices of the Secretary of State and Attorney General.

Groups must obtain more than 107,000 signatures to get the initiative on the ballot.

They will have little trouble getting sigs. And I bet it will pass easily. Mississippi probably the most stupid and racist state in the nation.

Yes it could happen, but at the end of the day, it's all bark and no bite; something about the supremacy clause of the US constitution, I think.

Particularly, the non-violence turn the other cheek and not being rich because its harder for a rich man to enter heaven then for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle stuff.
