Looks Like Obama's Immigration Delay Backfired Big Time.

If Obama meant to save Senate seats by delaying his immigration move, it looks like it backfired. No one was saved as it seems Hispanics stayed home. With all the furor over the coming executive order, such furor might have helped Dems if he had done it before the election. If he was trying to be bipartisan, how well did that work out?

Just wondering.

There was no telling who would vote, no magic fortune telling.

Sadly the Hispanics didn't come out even though they were told he'd do it.

Ye of little faith.

But they might have stayed home anyway.

Obama has been their only hope really. Any fool should know the GOP will never do anything but try to deport them all or stop them from voting in the end. Now there is NO hope that anything will be done in next two years. And turning back GOPPERS will be more difficult. Be sure more severe voter ID and other tricks will arise by 2016.

put much faith into them favoring dems because of their foundation in the catholic religion.

common sense would normally dictate that immigration reform is more important than their faith in this matter. I was raised Catholic and understand how powerful belief can be even if belief is misguided. Dems are not necessarily pro abortion.

On the other hand Hispanics will never get any kind of deal on immigration with GOPPERS in charge. They won't say it but the GOP actually would deport ALL of them given the chance. So they can stay home or vote GOP over family planning and they will surely stay in an economic underclass. Or they can go back to Mexico where it is just about complete anarchy.

According to Pew, Latinos supported Dems over Republicans by a two-to-one margin in congressional elections this year. "After more than a year of inaction by Congress and President Obama on immigration reform," that number fell from the three-to-one support for Dems in 2010.

be interested to see something on feelings of Catholicism in south america. I listened to a report on npr a while back and a lot of folks from south america really followed the dictates of the pope and bishops. stuff like not using birth control because it's a sin.

I would fear that for a lot of them those beliefs would follow them to america.

However, the Democratic party follows a LOT more and certainly the ones actually found in the Gospels. I have a hard time believing the vast majority will agree with Republicans for the few items the agree with church on.

They are legal and their entire families may be legal and thus they may not care.

Someone married to an undocumented alien who has any other background would care more.

You do them because they are the right thing to do. My take is that he delayed precisely because he did not want to be accused of "buying (Hispanic) votes." That could have backfired just as big time.

Either way, it's not about Senate seats. It's about immigration reform, which even George W. Bush couldn't get past Congress (and, to his credit—possibly his only credit—he actually did try very hard to get it passed).

it on someone else. Even here they get the benefit of the doubt.
They stayed home we lost not their fault.
So we all get screwed, them too
There are local issues to vote for too. Why didn't they vote for them? Not enough good local issues also?
