Check in at the doctors office today has really changed, I was there today...

Have I been outside the USA in the last 30 days?

Have I had contact with ANYONE that has?

Body aches?

Fever?

Etc...

It took a couple extra minutes just to get checked in. But I sure understand the reasons behind it.

Anticipating the conversation I will have tomorrow morning.

Oh, and by the way, I shook hands with a guy that's HIV positive. last night.

Any problems?

No, I don't mean I'm there because I had contact with a guy with HIV. I mean I have a Fever and body aches (for more than a week) and happened to shake hands with a guy with HIV yesterday.

The nurse and I agreed that the ebola thing had been blown way out of proportion by the media, at least with respect to the US (it's still very bad in Africa). I said nobody had vomited on me so I wasn't worried - she laughed.

they had signs up, saying:

Have you been to Sierra Leone, Liberia, etc...?

Have you been around anybody who has been to (see above)...?

Do you have fever, chills, symptoms?

Warranted, I suppose.

I had scheduled several appointments at the Kaiser clinic here in So Calif, and every one of the 3 offices I went to, plus the lab and xray departments, had the same check-off questionnaire. I appreciated their diligence. They were also quite insistent that anyone who was in the waiting room and coughing or sneezing must wear a mask, and they were given an additional factsheet as well.
