LOL!!!: Appropriations panel: Defunding immigration order "IMPOSSIBLE"

Republicans were really all-in on this idea that they could defund the order without shutting down the government. And now they've got like a day to figure out their next super-sneaky maneuver to ensure that Obama can't slow deportations. Or they can just keep insisting they can do the thing that's "impossible." Denying reality is a favored Republican strategy, after all.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/11/20/1346184/-Oops-GOP-s-plan-for-shutting-down-Obama-s-immigration-action-is-impossible

It would be “impossible" to defund President Obama’s executive actions on immigration through a government spending bill, the House Appropriations Committee said Thursday.

In a statement released by House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers's (R-Ky.) office hours before Obama's scheduled national address, the committee said the primary agency responsible for implementing Obama's actions is funded entirely by user fees.

.............

“This agency is entirely self-funded through the fees it collects on various immigration applications," the committee said in the statement, which was provided to The New York Times. "Congress does not appropriate funds for any of its operations, including the issuance of immigration status or work permits, with the exception of the ‘E-Verify’ program. Therefore, the appropriations process cannot be used to “defund” the agency."

.............

“We cannot, literally cannot, defund that agency in an appropriations bill because we don’t appropriate that agency. That agency is entirely fee funded,” Hing said.

"Defund" doesn't fix any problems, it simply punts on it. But it is an easy way for the GOP to make it seem that they are doing something without needing to make policy decisions that their base might not like.

Hell NO. They don't even recognize truth or reality, so will continue to push a shutdown for this purpose, knowing damn well it won't happen. They just want to prove that they have the power to fuck with everyone and will do it no matter what. they know their lackeys, the Kochs, will just bombard the airwaves with the brave congress blocking bad black president and the stupid sheeple will be proud. Of course, the people that are actually hurt by this may pay attention, but are the Repugs too stupid or venal to care?

If you listened to Republicans at the time he was the magical Cuban boy who came over on the backs of dolphins as his mom drowned.

The Republicans were OUTRAGED that Janet Reno and Bill Clinton raided the place he was staying to send him back where he came from. (And to his father)

Back then they were pandering to the Cubans in Miami. Fast forward to today and they would applaud if the cops shot "Mexicans" on sight.

BTW: There are those on the Right who still pass around pictures of Elian all grown up in the Cuban military with a "If he had only been allowed to stay he wouldn't have gone in league with The Devil (AKA: Castro)" caption.

They are quickly losing any possibility of winning in 2016. The need to get some brain power in the GOP and fire the radicals and extremists. Those groups do not get Presidential votes.

With any luck, the next two years will resemble a rerun of a ROADRUNNER cartoon, with the GOP ordering lots of equipment to kill Obama from the ACME HERITAGE FOUNDATION.

Because they could so easily pass a law that would replace Obama's executive order if they wanted to pass one that would get a few Democratic votes in the Senate.

But of course, then they would have to decide on an immigration policy.

This is the best example of Obama playing 12-dimensional chess with the Republicas.

His executive order just took the Republicans' queen, bishops, knights, castles and pawns all at once so to speak. They now have to protect their King with no supporting pieces. That is going to be very interesting.

Their two main contenders for the presidency in 2016, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz are both supposed to steal a few Hispanic votes. This is getting interesting.

what part of self funded and thus Congress can't simply turn off the money do these idiots not understand? And if they get that, do they think President Obama would actually sign legislation changing the funding process for said agency? And just for kicks, lets say they did defund CIS, don't they realize that adversely affects the light colored immigrants they seem to like or at least don't howl about? How fucking stupid can you get? ....wait.....don't answer that. I probably don't want to know.
