And rioting isn't going to get us there. In fact, it takes one further from the goal by creating sympathy in the average person for the police. I can certainly understand why people are angry. There are a thousand instances of police brutality and murder that deserve the same kind of furor. However, anger and destruction for the sake of anger and destruction has never solved anything. To win you need to make yourself look like the better people, that is what MLK understood better than just about anybody. When people contrasted peaceful protesters with water cannons and attack dogs the PR war was won and things changed a lot. Right now all riots, burning and looting do is the hand the PR war to cops on a silver platter.
Food for thought.

And immeidately there was another police clash, and from that it was found the police camera of the involved officer had been turned off.

(10,362 posts)I'm surprised this isn't issue #1 right now. A camera on every cop would eliminate the mystery from these cases.

(54,770 posts)It will keep police on their toes, help identify improper police action, and even cutback on frivolous complaints. It won't catch everything and won't work every time, but it will be a definite improvement.

(16,926 posts)Is cops who don't feel inclined to launch tear gas canisters like a 4th of July show when they are not in threat. I saw about 8 to 10 spiraling out of a police vehicle in under a minute into a darkened parking lot well away from the action on Main Street last night.
