Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin would have gone to the ER to be patched up and sent home (free of charge, incidentally).
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Where there are guns, people will die. Key witnesses will be unable to testify, because they are dead. Without our gun culture, thousands of people who are dead would be alive today.

(9,796 posts)So Michael Brown might have ended up with a face full of pepper spray. Your larger point stands though. Pepper spray is uncomfortable but not fatal. My brother-in-law recently retired after thirty years on the force, having arrested hundreds of criminals with zero fatalities.
