Yes!
White people often project their fears and hostility on others. If the tables were turned and whites suffered discrimination they would be the most dangerous and violent people on earth.
Your friend has a good point if I read this correctly.

the unspoken part might have been "but since blacks are outnumbered 10 to 1, then I don't dwell on it".

It's unfortunate that since the media outlets are concentrated in the very places where minorities are concentrated thanks to de facto segregation (cities), our numbers are skewed in their minds.

But if a family member was gunned down in the street and the murderer got away with it, I'd get militant real fast.

And I wouldn't do anyone the favor of calling for calm. I'd be calling for outright war in front of all those cameras.

I'd be standing in the smoldering ruins of my oppressors before I snapped out of it and thought, "Wow, this was a bad idea."

Probably along the lines of one of those movies like "John Wick" -- I love my dogs, but you kill my kid, and I would be all kinds of crazy.

I accept that the more peace loving DU'ers with their "turn the other cheek/don't be like them" philosophies are probably better people than I am. I applaud them, but I am not them (plus I am not convinced their way is always the best way).

Of course, my knowledge of my own ability to snap into bat-shit crazy mode is one of the many reasons there are no guns in my house. Plus, no training, but mostly no desire.

We are civilized, but the only reason to let go of a "Blood Feud" is if the justice system takes care of things appropriately. If they don't, then the social covenant of "I won't wipe them all out" is broken.

Being in the justice system is a great responsibility. It is one of the reasons I take it seriously when "bad apples" cause dishonor to those who work hard to serve and protect.

It must take some serious self control, internal strength, and willpower to tolerate the BS.

It's going to happen one of these days. Letting the Brown kid lay on the street for 4 hours after being shot, and keeping the GJ verdict secret till nighttime are disrespectful actions, apart from the crime..

They hate the disrespect, and I don't fault them for that.

Yeah, I would say that there is remarkable restraint amongst the black community.
