Do these cops who kill unarmed people needlessly not fear revenge?

If I were such a cop, I'd be freaking scared to death that someone who loved the person I killed would put an end to me. I don't understand the mentality that wouldn't send these murderous people into deep hiding.

1. Most normal people don't seek vengence, that is just a Hollywood thing.

Yes there are a few instances of this happening but I have a feeling most of those people were mental cases before they took the law into their own hands.

Some people, however, do. Have any cops been killed by someone looking for revenge? I don't know, but I suspect some have. Today, as we're hearing about more and more cases where some unarmed person is killed by a cop, I suspect we may hear later that someone has done exactly that.

The father of a person killed, or a brother or someone else. Someone with little to lose and the means to act. It's not just Hollywood, it's part of human nature.

wanted revenge for what they perceived as problems with cops. The problem here is both of those guys were clearly unstable and I don't think cops are too worried about unstable people seeking revenge because it happens so infrequently.

i hear about police shootings fairly often, I don't remember any of the officers suffering any kind of revenge for it.

With no resolution and Ferguson natives feeling a sense of injustice, many have taken matters into their own hands. 43 year old Deputy Percival White was gunned down at a local Krispy Kreme after stoping by to get donuts and coffee. The assailant, 34 year old Jerome Williams, shot White 4 times in the chest, piercing his heart causing him to die instantly on the scene. Williams was taken into custody moments later. When asked about his motive, Williams stated that he woke up that morning and decided that he would kill a random white policeman in Mike Brown’s honor. Jerome Williams is being mentally evaluated and will be charged with first degree murder if deemed to have normal mental capacity.

People not wanting to have anything to do with the cop, not able to get a job..

The vast majority people are not actually vigilantes or have any inclination to violently seek retribution.

The targets of their vengeance are also heavily armed and trained, even in states with strict gun control, with the obvious sympathy and support of the police.

Lastly, except for immediate family members and friends, individual cases tend to quickly fade from memory. The lunatic fringe usually finds some other object for their obsessions in short order.

It may be wise for these police officers to exercise simple prudence, but they hardly need to be "scared to death," particularly as time passes.

fellow current officers and retired officers while Joe A. Citizen gets his business burnt down or his head clubbed in by an angry mob.

They know no one is going to find them and no one is going to touch them plus the benefits and payoff for killing a homeless person or minority is HUGE for these gang members.

So, to answer your question. No they do not fear revenge.

Would "good"cops be more fearful after this Garner case, and Ferguson still in the forefront of our thoughts?
Or, do the good ones think that maybe a couple cops getting charged and tried, and to some extent being found guilty would be the sacrificial lambs as it were to show that there can be justice.

It makes sense in my head, hope it came out that way.

edited to add, The Rude Pundit says it more clearly as to what I was trying to say.

"The message to African Americans is simple: "You must comply or we will fucking kill you." If I were a cop, I'd be scared to death and really pissed off. I'd want the grand juries to indict. I'd want the cops who fuck up to be put on trial, to be sent to prison. Because this is how revolutions start. This is what inspires real insurgent violence. When you, as a citizen, no longer believe the authorities are there to protect you but are a threat to your safety? When you're cornered and your choice is to fight or be murdered without any consequences for the murderers? That's a tipping point. The violent cops are undermining not just police departments, but the shaky structure of America itself."
