Good for the protesters! Stop the festivities. People are being legally murdered in the streets, a tree lighting ceremony just doesn't feel right tonite.

(2,004 posts)for the murder of Mr. Garner. The tree was so much more important than a man's life. NBC is disgusting.
"No Justice. No Tree" Good luck to the protestors. I wish them success and safety.

In May, a black New York City undercover cop who was running after a suspect with his gun drawn was shot to death by a white officer. Boarded-up buildings, broken windows and jobless young men still populate that Brooklyn block. And Lee, who wrote, produced and directed the film, insists the racial disconnect at its heart still exists.
White people still ask me why Mookie threw the can through the window, Lee said in an interview. Twenty years later, theyre still asking me that.
No black person ever, in 20 years, no person of color has ever asked me why.

(4,423 posts)as onlookers gawked and righteous men pronounced that they had the power to do what they did, no I am not talking about the man that some believe was murdered nearly 2000 years ago at Mt. Moriah in Jerusalem to free all men of sin, I am talking about an unobtrusive U.S. citizen named Mr. Eric Garner who was put down by multiple white men on the streets of NYC, because they believed they had righteous power over him and claimed that they had the power to do what they did, and were upheld in their lawlessness just like those same Roman soldiers were upheld in theirs nearly 2000 years ago....
and the saddest part is some still think it is OK to celebrate and light a holiday tree? Tell it to Eric Garners family, tell it to Trayvon Martin's family, tell it to Michael Browns family and the many thousands more who are murdered by righteous men who believe that they have the power to do what they did...
No trees this holiday only tears....

(32,324 posts)Why was there Justice for a turkey and not for Trayvon or Michael? (Not that this is the President's fault, as it's a time honored ceremony.)
But we need to let officialdom know where our hearts are this "holiday"season. (Holiday having derived from the word "holy" and people's lives are holy and must be honored before any Holy Days can be celebrated.)
