The police should be like "Caesar's wife"...
They should be beyond reproach. They should set the examples for law and order.
First of all, they should have utmost respect for all the citizens for whom they work to protect.
They should not go to work with a "them vs us" attitude, as if they are at war. If that is the way they think, then perhaps they should get into another line of work?
There are jobs that are more dangerous than being a cop. There is no excuse for them to 'shoot first and ask questions later". If they do shoot first and kill an innocent citizen, then they should be held accountable to the same laws as everyone else. They should not be permitted to hide behind friendly DA's and grand juries to escape punishment if they commit a crime.
If they cannot operate with those rules, let them walk into their departments tomorrow and hand in their resignations. Many good people need jobs and they don't have to murder people to qualify for the job. There has to be respect for the people. Policemen that kill unarmed and innocent citizens should not go unpunished.
