Vote for democrats

Here is what is says in the Terms of Service for DU.

Vote for Democrats.

Winning elections is important — therefore, advocating in favor of Republican nominees or in favor of third-party spoiler candidates that could split the vote and throw an election to our conservative opponents is never permitted on Democratic Underground. But that does not mean that DU members are required to always be completely supportive of Democrats. During the ups-and-downs of politics and policy-making, it is perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about the Democratic officials we worked hard to help elect. When we are not in the heat of election season, members are permitted to post strong criticism or disappointment with our Democratic elected officials, or to express ambivalence about voting for them. In Democratic primaries, members may support whomever they choose. But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where were a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear. For non-presidential contests, election season begins on Labor Day. Everyone here on DU needs to work together to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of American government. If you are bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for our candidates during election season, we'll assume you are rooting for the other side.

Notice the last two sentences that I put in bold. When people come here I assume they come here to work together and elect more democrats to office, and not bash, or trash democrats, including the president, or to try and "depress" voter turnout.

The problems I see here center around these last two sentences. I feel there is way to much bashing and trashing going on here and believe that many, myself included, don't come here as often, nor post as often because if you don't agree with the bashing and trashing, or if you actually "support" the president and believe he accomplished a hell of a lot since he was elected, then you are called "Obama bots", authoritarians, or some other rude label. When a thread is started that shows just how much the president has done, or is doing, it is promptly attacked by the usual bashers who fill the thread with all kinds of negative remarks.

As others have stared on the board, we need to unite, not divide each other, but for some who post here it really seems like their agenda is to "divide" on a daily basis. I used to see real debates going on over the issues, but now it's rare to find. As another poster posted, and I agree there is a lot of things we could agree on if we took the time to actually listen and discuss.

I think we all are guilty at one time or another of losing control and saying things we probably should not have said, and we should think before we post things in anger.

Just my two cents worth.

Change the tide of Republicans in office. 31 Governors, a bunch of state houses completely Republican, the House of Representatives overwhelming Republican. The Senate is the easiest start. And actually the Supreme Court is doable to before some other areas.

With only around 38% of Americans even taking the time to vote this year, it's pretty obvious that republicans won because the majority that 38% got out and voted more than democrats. I do think that in 2016 there might be some of those republican governors who get the boot. I do agree that the Senate will be easier to win back seats in 2016. As for the Supreme court, that kind of depends on when a replacement is needed, and who is in the WH.

I am trying to point out some of the problems here when people break the rules by bashing and trashing and not trying to unite, but divide.

I speak out against policies I find repugnant that some Democrats pursue and support. Such as Hillary's support and vote for the war in Iraq, Obama's escalation and use of drones in the war in Afghanistan, and both of their policies on whistleblowers like Snowden, Manning, and Assange.

I have no problem with holding him accountable, I do however have a problem with posters who ARE bashing and trashing him, the party and anyone who disagrees with them. I have read posters say that president Obama will "destroy" the party, he has accomplished nothing at all, he is just like Nixon, etc. and those same posters do it day after day after day and get 100+ recs. There is a group here that can never say anything positive about him, or the party. What do you call those kind of posters?

And I never accused you of being one of them, but they are here and all he do is try and stir up the shit and keep dividing, instead of uniting.

I posted from the terms of service about those who bash and trash, that's what I hate. Nowhere in my post did I say I hate those who state facts. It's those who simply make shit up day in and day out with NO facts at all to back their constant BS about how bad the president is, how bad the party is and how bad anyone who dares to disagree with them is.

Oppose all you want, as long it's not bashing, I could care less.

Underground or any other political party underground. If you find yourself constantly posting negative things about the Democratic elected officials you have to ask yourself if you're in the right place.

Where did I ask for any kind of loyalty oath for anyone? I posted from the DU Terms of Service about DU rules. I highlighted two lines at the end about those who "bash" and "trash" democrats or the party. I did NOT write the Terms of Service here I simply posted them and stated that bashing and trashing democrats and the party are a daily thing here. Do you think that all the bashing and trashing is OK?

Why such an angry attitude in your response?

I don't give a shit who you support, I simply posted from the terms of service for DU and highlighted the part about bashing and trashing. Why not address that instead of posting what you did. As for Hillary, I won't vote for her in the primary, but is she wins the nomination I will vote for her over any republican that runs. How about you?
