Why I think the Republicans are so against Net Neutrality.

They are patient boogers. Years in advance, they author and nurture certain messaging, they wait for their message to sink in, to become part of the psyche of their constituency. The Republican messaging has been nurtured deliberately in the direction we see today, the pro guns, racist, anti science, their form of patriotism (I've grown to hate that word) etc. They gerrymander local districts, they work hard to dissolve the resolve of any progressive via trolls and loud disruptive messaging. The message does not necessarily need make a ton of sense at first, it's starts out just making a unified stand..any stand is good if it's against the Liberal/Communist/Socialist menace to the nation. But as it turns out, the message doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to be repeated often enough to become part of the Republican paradigm and one more thing with which to bludgeon a Liberal.

The Republicans work toward division and divisiveness. They do everything as swarm of army ants, with the the very long term in mind...and it seems to be working.....sometimes. The Dems are occasionally reminded of the Dem platform and they rally, the Dems are reminded of the Republican platform and they rail against it. That messaging availability is dangerous for Republicans.

Removing Net Neutrality along with manipulating the media, will eventually be the knock out punch for Democracy and be the full blown success the Republican dream about. The Republicans are slowly but surely attempting to control all of the messaging, paper, news, tv, and now internet...and it's not too difficult to determine why Net Neutrality is part of a comprehensive, long term strategy to controlling all messaging systems.

As long as both sides are against it, we may be able to keep it away.

I know they always think very long term, and also NEVER give up! Look at how many decades they've been fighting Roe v Wade. They appear never to get discouraged either. If they lose on an election or an issue, they just say we'll try again next time, and if they keep losing, they still keep trying again tomorrow.

I give them credit for their tenacity. I wish I could insert it into the Dems!

35-40% of the people in this nation watch television, listen to the radio (even public broadcasting) and don't see how they are being manipulated.

A neutral, common carrier, internet might break that mass media stranglehold.

Today's Non Sequiter nails it:

"So what new manufactured crisis is going to paralyze us with fear today?"

Our "free" press and electronic media have become finely tuned propaganda tools controlled by an oligarchy.
