(10,362 posts)footballs and gauges. But what he can't explain is that the variance, for 11 out of the 12, caused them to be underinflated. Every ball except the kicking ball.
That can't be explained by science or manufacturing differences.

(15,429 posts)Nothing he's talked about goes to the 2 PSI under inflation of the balls last Sunday.

(6,452 posts)I coached little league football and we had ball pressure requirements. I can't remember what the exact range was, but I do know that cold weather often caused some deflation. But I never saw deflation greater than .5 PSI, and often it was only a touch lower or completely unchanged.

(20,006 posts)If those 11 balls were constructed at the same time from the same batch of pigskin with the same threading, etc., and all the other balls were made at a different time with different pigskin and different threads.

(20,819 posts)Lie and cheat and cheat and lie. That's his MO. He was a horrible coach as the last coach of my former hometown team, the Cleveland Browns, before Modell spirited them to Baltimore and they became the Ravens. Horrible both professionally and personally, as he dripped disdain for Cleveland from the beginning and was a nasty, mean-spirited piece of work around town. I guess he must not have been cheating then, 'cause he sure didn't work any of his "magic" with the Browns and, at that time, they weren't that bad (quit laughing, I'm serious!).
