Wedding bells could ring for the first same-sex marriage in Nebraska sooner than many expect perhaps as early as March.
The lawsuit challenging Nebraskas gay marriage ban is geared toward overturning the ban as quickly as possible. One of its lead plaintiffs is a woman with terminal breast cancer who wants to be considered legally married in Nebraska before she dies. She and her partner were married in California before moving to Omaha, where her surviving spouse and their children would not be afforded the same benefits.

Her argument and her wifes request for immediate relief could put gay marriage in Nebraska on a fast track.
If a federal district judge sides with the woman next month and rules that the states same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional as even gay marriage opponents expect him to do his ruling could go into effect quickly.
