1. Me! 8.5 inches of snow and about 6 degrees but sunny - and this is my last "working" winter

Fortunately, I had today off, anyway. The company I work for did declare a 2 hour delayed start, today, which I am sure is much appreciated, by everyone who doesn't have the day off!

I'm about to head out and HOPE that my snow blower starts. It is old, uses an oil/gas fuel mix, and when it is this cold, it is very hard to start. So, last night I dragged it into the laundry room! Desperate times call for desperate measures.

2. So the 2 feet of snow from last Tuesday is down to about a foot....

and right now it is pouring rain. About 33 degrees, forecasted to drop, turning rain to snow. Basically we are looking at a bit of slush. Debating between car, boat or just stay home. Cape Cod.

3. Eastern PA: Freezing rain on top of about a foot of snow

I had to postpone my doctor's appointment for 9 this morning. It was impossible for me to get there when my car was buried under over a foot of drifting snow--with a coating of ice on top for good measure.

I tried to shovel, but was able only to do a small portion of the job. Thank God my next door neighbor has a snow blower that he calls his new toy. Not only that, but his attitude is generous and I had to FORCE him to accept money for his work.

4. We have 19ish and some 4 foot drifts out back

Luckily we don't have much walk or drive to shovel, so my husband kept up with it- shoveled 4 times yesterday and then this morning. He went to work and zero trouble getting there.

And cold! The wind will make snow-blowing not-so-fun, but we have nowhere to go today.

6. We got about 16 inches here.

I dug out the wet stuff yesterday, but the drier fluffier stuff that came down after needs to be dug out. The wind blew snow over everything I dug out but at least it shouldn't be as heavy today.

But kids have no school.

Teenager is still sleeping, 12 and 6 y.o.'s are up and being quiet...I should go check what they're up to.

8. 3 to 6 inches expected but I see 6...hard to tell because we already had some

snow on the ground. Now it is just freezing rain. Very cold.

I was hoping this was the last snow storm of the season but now they're predicting more on Thursday.

I'm more worried about downed wires and electricity outages than anything else.

12. They CLAIM we only got 8.5 inches in Flint/Genesee county, but I think it was more

Admittedly, there has been a lot of blowing and drifting but we cleared the driveway 3 times, and each time there were between 4 and 6 inches, on the ground.

We have about 5 inches new on the ground today and now ice pellets are falling. I may try to get out this afternoon and clear it up if I can, we're supposed to go down to 3 degrees overnight and I don't want to be shoveling in that.

11. I am, not that it makes any difference to me

I am 7 weeks out from major knee surgery today and I don't yet have permission to drive, so I was working from home regardless. Thankfully the snow is today as my follow up is tomorrow and we have a 4 hour drive to get to the doctor. And then hopefully I can get out of my parents' house and back to my regular life.

we got a few inches last night but not nearly enough. Takes at least two feet in a day or night to get snowed in around here (Northern Rockies @ approximately 7,000ft.). We may be lucky and get some more by tomorrow but it still won't be enough... we're about 15ft. shy of the norm for the season so far.

Enjoy your day!

15. Well the heat went out temporarily (how did the thousands without power get through this?)

Our high efficiency furnace is picky about the filter air flow when it gets really cold. I last changed it 8-22-14. So it didn't have a lot a A/C use on it. We use a MERV 13 rated 4 inch filter that lasts up to a year. I should have changed it when we knew the temp was going to drop.

Anyway the family room has a fireplace. She went upstairs and said "it is cold up here, do we need to change the filter?". Swapped it out and the heat came back on.
