A 37-year-old Norfolk, Nebraska, man was arrested early Saturday in connection with his fifth driving-under-the-influence case.

Norfolk police said Travis Lauridsen was arrested around 2:05 a.m. during a traffic stop after he passed through a stop sign at Fifth Street and Omaha Avenue.

An officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from Lauridsen, who was asked to perform a field sobriety test and submit to a preliminary breath test.

Just curious since I find 19 similar stories (5th - 8th DUI arrest) on the front page of google searchs, more than half of them from within the last month.

It is, unfortunately, an all too common occurrence.

156 DUers clicked on the OP to read this story. That means they were interested from the title.

We don't have a Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Forum or Group. It's not the lighter material usually found in the The DU Lounge.

Perhaps you might think of these as PSAs. Public Service Announcement. It might remind a DUer the car driving erratically in front of them might be drunk, not just texting or talking. Or that drunk driving happens 24 x 7. Drive defensively.

There is always the hundreds that didn't click on the story because it wasn't for them. Maybe next time you see drunk driver for the subject, like those other hundreds you just won't click.

I wouldn't be upset if you put me on ignore either. That would be easier than wondering why I bother to get on the DU some days.

Regards,

OS
