Budget proposal is Obamas map back to big government

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama wants the era of big government back.
Ronald Reagan in his 1981 inaugural ushered in an era of skepticism about Uncle Sam by declaring that government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem. Bill Clinton affirmed the sentiment in his 1996 State of the Union address, proclaiming, the era of big government is over.
Now Obama, unleashed from elections, entering the final two years of his presidency and wrestling with a legacy that includes a struggling middle class, is using his proposed budget for 2016 as a political manifesto. Its one he hopes will turn the countrys course back toward the embrace of government that ruled from Franklin D. Roosevelts New Deal in the 1930s through Lyndon Johnsons Great Society of the 1960s.
The budget he proposed Monday, with big boosts in spending and debt, suggests a crusade for a strong central government as a provider for the disadvantaged and bulwark against corporate excess, financed by new taxes on the wealthy.

(34,661 posts)in the fifties and sixties? Well gang,it was all those Socialist Governmental spending programs as well as supporting worker rights. Does not anyone realize what it takes to rebuild our middle class? Stop listening to the Yammering Class at NBC,CBS,ABC and of course Fake Noise. It is going to take investment in people to change this country and not in the Banking People or the fake job creator 1%ers.

(1,979 posts)He is, once again, giving us the solutions. Granted, the GOP will hate it, but he is right and we should support his vision.
we better start taking the shit the GOP is unleashing seriously and get our act together or we will have a full on GOP government.
I get physically sick even thinking about it.

(70,322 posts)...Experts say that two important ways of helping struggling lower- and moderate-income people are making child care more accessible and education more affordable. Obama proposes both.
The child care tax credit would increase threefold. High quality infant and toddler care would be more available. Washington would partner with states in his Preschool for All initiative for 4-year-olds. Community college tuition would be free for two years for responsible students.
