a few years ago?????? as I thought, and someone else agreed, you are of the "IGMFU" mindset (helpfully translated as "I got mine--f*** you!"

to have such an ignorant, grasping, greedy, bigoted jerk on the highest court in the land is an obscenity.

Justice Thurgood Marshall was a giant among men. Silent Clarence stands on Thurgood Marshall's shoulders and imagines he got where he is all by himself.

He is intellectually lazy and does what he is told by his owners

He is black judge replacing a black judge, in the eyes of the RW it is an even trade

The #1 reason why they picked Thomas, it was a lame attempt to taint the legacy of Thurgood Marshall and all future black justices on the court. Basically Thomas fit the stereotype of the type of African American that is acceptable to the RW….compliant and silent.

Thurgood Marshall as a young lawyer changed America and the world with the Brown case. Thomas, well he did noting except sexually harass some women.

The RW has been pissed off about it ever since.

even thought the SCOTUS ruled in favor of interracial marriage the law making illegal remained in some of the southern states up till the '80's. I'd have to research but I'm almost positive. My parents (interracial marriage) wouldn't drive through the south to my dads family home in Alabama because they didn't know what would happen. It wasn't until like the 90's that my dad felt comfortable driving--mostly cuz of the small towns I think.

At almost 80 he's seen some shit and can tell some stories. My mom often talks about the riots in Wilmington Delaware--but that's a whole 'nother thread.

Interracial marriages. Bottom line, allow those who care for each other to marry as long as it is age appropriate. It has bothered me for years the simple fact of excluding loved ones from being together because they are not "family". Too many times in the past family members through anger excluded partners from hospital rooms. Too sad.

of Thomas. Of course, to understand your position, he would have to have Scalia explain it to him. I have yet to understand how this most unqualified, mindless right-wing nut job got his sorry ass sat in Thurgood Marshall's seat.

50 years ago, many Americans in the South would have been angry about your marriage.

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967),[1] was a landmark civil rights decision of the United States Supreme Court which invalidated laws prohibiting interracial marriage.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Recognize for same-sex couples the right you enjoy yourself: marriage with the person they love.
