Did anyone notice David Brock (Media Matters) resigned from the board of Priorities USA today?

If so, why didn't anyone tell me? I just found out and am kind of shocked here. Brock has been a strong ally to the Clinton's since he stopped chasing them around with a pitchfork back in the 90's. This current dust up is kind of a big deal in wonkland.

The people and groups laying the groundwork for a 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential candidacy have taken great pains to present a united front over the last year, but that facade was torn up with news Monday that one group's leader was resigning from another's board while making allegations of negative leaks to the press.

David Brock, founder of the pro-Clinton groups American Bridge, Correct the Record and Media Matters, resigned Monday from the board of Priorities USA, the super PAC that backed President Obama in 2012 and had reoriented itself to support Clinton in 2016, Politico reported.

In his resignation letter, Brock accused Priorities USA officials of “an orchestrated political hit job," according to Politico. It was an apparent reference to a New York Times story last week that detailed how one of Brock's leading fundraisers, Mary Pat Bonner, operates.

“Current and former Priorities officials were behind this specious and malicious attack on the integrity of these critical organizations," Brock wrote in the letter to Priorities USA co-chairs Jennifer Granholm, a former Michigan governor, and Jim Messina, Obama's 2012 campaign manager, per Politico.

1. It's just a little spat.

Politico has it that a reconciliation is in the offing.

By early evening — hours after POLITICO broke the news of Brock’s resignation — Priorities USA Action issued a conciliatory statement from Granholm saying that the group was “working to address” Brock’s concerns, while Brock issued one saying he was “open to returning to the board.”

Brock in his statement said he’d talked “to several leaders of Priorities USA Action” and was “confident they want to address the situation.” The parties planned to meet “to work on establishing that path and strengthening our relationship and getting back to the important work we need to do in this election cycle,” he said.

2. I read that. Lovers quarrel, stress of rasing a half billion dollars, yada, yada.

These people are supposed to be professionals, the best in their league at doing what they do. Which happens to be raise money for Democratic candidates. Yet, still, this takes place? As if Brock and everyone involved doesn't grasp the potential damage public infighting can have on an election cycle? It seems pretty foolish to my eyes.

3. I just find it all very disheartening.

SuperPACs are the new face of politics. Leaves little room for my humble concerns.

4. We agree on that.

I fought for public finance in 2008 (pre-citizens united) at my state level and was shot down with, "the future power is in PACs." They won and I lost, but I fought hard and it was brought to the floor and at least discussed. In the end I think we (the citizens) all lost.

5. Some days I recognize that the coup d'état is complete.

The Supreme Court sold us to the highest bidder, first installing Bush with Gore v. Florida; pounding the "Sold" sign down with Citizens United v. FEC gavel. Stick a fork in it. It's done.

I'll find some optimism tomorrow, maybe.
