When a journalist becomes this big a story, instead of simply the means for conveying big stories to the public, something is very wrong.

Apparently, he wanted to be this millennium's Ernest Hemingway or Jack London or something, but while being pampered to bits in a studio or at the Ritz Carleton.

On the other hand, why were other journalists silent until some members of the military pointed out he was lying? I mean, if the Wapo story to which I linked in this post could be written today, it could have been written six months ago, too, or before that.

*ETA: In reading Brian Williams wiki, I had the same thought I had after reading Chuck Toad's wiki: With all the competition for jobs in TV, how did this man get the position he has with his credentials? Williams, at least has personal charisma, which may count for a lot on TV. But I would not have put either of them in huge positions in network news.

Oh man - I do NOT envy him...

YEEEEKS...

Your 13-million-dollar/year network anchorman isn't supposed to be a joke. Otherwise he might as well go work for Comedy Central. Not sure how he survives this.

MAAAANNNNNNNN...
