(269,157 posts)but then how dare these lil black kids from Chicago's south side win.
I won't even mention the over-aged players from foreign teams

(17,111 posts)If you are going to game the system, you better game it well. It was too obvious and easy to prove. As far as foreign teams go, trying to prove that the players are older without help from those countries, good luck. Not gonna happen.

(17,997 posts)And I hate to believe it, but I am positive that it's all about "how dare black kids represent the best of the little league"
Are they investigating the LA school like they did here?
This just sucks.

(151 posts)They cheated, they got caught. White, Black, Green or Yellow; If you are caught cheating you get punished. <key word caught.
As far as the other posts about it hurting the children...they are old enough to know the rules and They Probably Knew it was cheating so I have little pity on their issues after getting caught.

(17,997 posts)We're talking 12 and 13 year old kids. Bully for you.

(23,926 posts)your post is post is just foolish. This is in no way the fault of the Jackie Robinson LL players, the adults bear full responsibility. But baseless accusations leveled against other players and adult volunteers serve no purpose.

(65,159 posts)Yesterday i heard NW Indiana. Since, 20% of NW Indiana is the Chicago suburbs, i thought nothing of it.
Are_grits_groceries
(17,111 posts)Apparently the adults used a falsified district map to recruit players. They then tried to get the other districts to retroactively validate it. They knew they were wrong.

(22,298 posts)You don't jack kids around like that just because YOU want to win.
I feel sorry for the kids who were used like this.
mythology
(9,527 posts)They got jerked around because this team couldn't play by the rules.
The kids from the team that lost the title can learn from this.
marym625
(17,997 posts)Damn it. Those poor kids. This sucks. It really sucks.
If the school did something wrong, that's not the kids' fault.
Are_grits_groceries
(17,111 posts)who run that district. Blame them.
marym625
(17,997 posts)The kids shouldn't suffer for this. Just terrible.
DrDan
(20,411 posts)they also should not suffer
I support vacating the wins
marym625
(17,997 posts)If they make it to playoffs, do it then. Don't take titles away. I blame the league. Sorry
DrDan
(20,411 posts)there is no perfect resolution - someone will unfairly suffer
but things need to be made as "right" as possible - so some lessons are learned

(44,228 posts)Adults fucked up here, trying to game the system.
And the kids are the ones who are going to pay for it.
It's a really shitty situation for those players.

(17,997 posts)These kids are going to have this follow them the rest of their lives. For something that the adults did

(3,212 posts)There's a reason the coaches reached out beyond the legal boundaries.
The whole thing is sad. My dad coached Little League for years, and we all loved it.

(44,228 posts)Did they really think that using players from outside the district wouldn't eventually become known?
Coaches, League Executives, even parents, know who the top players are in neighbouring districts. Bringing in players from outside the district isn't something that can be easily hidden.

(2,931 posts)It did me a ton of good when I was playing as a youngster, and I can imagine it does many of these kids the same type of good. Its just too damn bad parents have to freakin ruin it these days.
This is a time when kids are really starting to develop into the grown adults they will eventually become, and we have parents fighting in the stands, coaches using cheap tricks/tactics to win, and now coaches and parents collaborating to cheat... sigh.
Great example for your kids, jackasses.
DrDan
(20,411 posts)other teams do it? no excuse
less privileged - no excuse
no excuse for consciously cheating

(9,527 posts)Not just about how his cheating lost his titles and public respect, but it also it devastated the LiveStrong fundraising once Lance finally admitted he's a cheating scumbag.
Also if it didn't matter, why did Penn State lobby so hard to have the wins of Joe Paterno reinstated? Apparently those wins mattered more to them than accepting that they had a culture that valued wins over enabling the sexual abuse of kids.
Cheaters should be punished and punished severely to make sure the potential punishment is enough to serve as a deterrent since concepts like honor and self-respect obviously aren't enough for some people.
