or any of your other goodies....that goes for you too men, pack up the speedos and the Borat bathing suits. At least if this Montana legislator has his way:
Montana Republican state Rep. David Moore has a plan to guide America out of the darknessban yoga pants.
Moore, who is upset that group of naked bicyclists pedaled through Missoula last year, decided that what his state really needs right now is tighter regulations on trousers. His proposed bill, HB 365, would outlaw not just nudity, but also "any device, costume, or covering that gives the appearance of or simulates the genitals, pubic hair, anus region, or pubic hair region." Per the Billings Gazette:
The Republican from Missoula said tight-fitting beige clothing could be considered indecent exposure under his proposal.
"Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway," Moore said after the hearing.
Moore said he wouldnt have a problem with people being arrested for wearing provocative clothing but that he'd trust law enforcement officials to use their discretion. He couldnt be sure whether police would act on that provision or if Montana residents would challenge it.

(3,747 posts)The other day, I was asking a friend if they make yoga pants for men, since she was wearing some, and they looked really comfortable. Then she told me they were leggings, and didn't explain the difference...
KMOD
(7,906 posts)leggings used to be more like tights, where you would wear something over them.
But now they are making jeans and calling them leggings, so who the heck knows anymore. lol

(3,747 posts)I know a couple of rowers on the University of Washington team and none of them are rich, or even "well-off". I know that's just anecdotal evidence, but...banning it seems kinda excessive (if you were serious haha). Also, almost any Olympic sport these days requires training from a young age, which generally means you need money.

(65,159 posts)I don't want anybody banned for what they wear in any field or endeavor.
I use the same line on a guy at work who's a lacrosse coach. I tell him i don't care 'cuz it's a rich kid sport.
Around our neck of the woods, only the schools from the very affuent areas had the money to field a lacrosse team. It wasn't so much the sport itself, it's that most of the schools only had enough money to field a limited number of sports. Lacrosse, hockey, swimming, diving, etc. were just not on most middle class schools' radar.
Hence the attitude, which is not really serious.

Ah, that makes sense. My high school had a few sports like that. I guess I was thinking at the university level, where pretty much any popular sport gets as much funding as they want.

(32,086 posts)This isn't the first time I've seen somebody whining about yoga pants as being somehow indecent. This past summer, in a discussion about cheerleaders and "ice girls" on a sports blog I frequent, one of the resident teabaggers was bitching about them. He got his shorts in a wad because women at his gym had the audacity to work out in tight-fitting garments, like yoga pants. And, oh the horrors, low-cut tops. This guy is in his 30s, so he's not some older person who grew up in another era. I guess women are supposed to work out in burkas because he can't control his own weird sexual urges?

"Vote for me and I will waste your taxpayer dollars and a lot of time and paper fighting things like yoga pants...but wait, there's more!"
The death of a thousand cuts seems to be coming by way of a carload of clowns, all trained at the same clown academy who are hell bent on distracting the focus from important issues and creating sensational diversions for their masters...um, constituents.
We are getting a mass wedgie from people who are obviously playing with the emotions and sensibilities of people while shirking their responsibilities and detracting the spotlight from some very serious issues at hand.
One would hope people will notice this more and that we can start to call them on the utility of making a mockery of our legal process in this day and age. Enough!
