Jindal to leave Louisiana's next governor with budget mess

I saw this guy on TV just last week bragging about how La. has all these years of growth.. the truth always always comes out

BATON ROUGE, La.

(AP) — Year after year, Louisiana didn't have enough money to cover its expenses, yet Gov. Bobby Jindal refused to roll back income tax cuts or ever-increasing corporate tax breaks. Instead, he raided reserve funds and sold off state property.

Jindal suggested job growth from his economic development wins would replenish those assets once the recession ended. It hasn't — and money from the lucrative oil industry has taken a nose dive with crude prices. Now, the Republican is running out of short-term patches and is struggling to plug a $1.6 billion budget hole just as he tries to build support for a possible 2016 presidential run

Edit to add.. he apparently raided the state of monies to give big corporations tax breaks.. sigh

Now it looks like it's gonna be as bad as it was in the late '80s, when I first discovered NOLA and set my sights on moving there. Eventually I did, but the job quickly fell through, and there was nothing else around. Thanks, Booby!

copies of the budgets of every state with a repug governor. This would prove once and for all what is the end result of their top-down ideology. It's the same story every time. Tax breaks for corporations that will magically increase revenues but never do, cuts to the poor that will magically transform economies but never do, shrinking of government to create jobs that never materialize, followed by staggering debt, one-time fixes for recurring expenses, selling off of public property, accounting tricks, etc, etc...
My state has seen its share of this. Our former GOP gov Engler ran up a $4 billion deficit. When Dem gov Granholm got it down to $1.5 billion, a new GOP gov took over after being elected by saying Granholm ran up a $1.5 billion deficit.
