At The Atlantic, Graeme Wood argues that many in the West make the mistake of thinking of ISIS as being similar to Al Qaeda, when the two groups goals and ideology are very different.

(29,322 posts)1. There are differences
Al-Baghdadi announcing himself "leader of all Muslims" is a major point of contention between them & Al-Qaeda but share the same Wahabbi ideology. They're more alike than they're different. The goals are very different, IS main objective is to overthrow a government in a Muslim majority country which is what the original Wahabbis did -- Saudi Arabia.

And obviously anyone who reads the article will see no "justifying" happening anywhere except in your imagination.

(21,744 posts)4. I suggest that we start calling them "Dyslamic Terrorists"
DS instead of IS.
Kind of has a ring to it and is equally accurate if not more so.
