Just because the under-water mortgages weren't worth keeping; because the student debt load (100K+) would never make sense to repay given the job market BAs (or MBAs or JDs). After a while of struggling, they could care less about their credit scores - they know that BofA would never lend to them without another huge ripoff.

It's amazing that the landed gentry of this country, and I assume in other "first-world" countries haven't had the intelligence to know that they are poisoning the well. They should be doing what they can to foster people that want their products/services and can afford them. Instead they are inadvertently building an army of young people who will do what then can to undermine these "gentry".

Although not a youngling, I owe money for an emergency surgery that I can NEVER hope to pay. I am currently unemployed because I had the audacity to address my ex-boss' racism. I am unlikely to get another job, because I'm 59 years old and "over-qualified."
